After being unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, we know much more about the new Supra specifications and capabilities. It’s only been a solid 2 years of rumors and buzz around the return of the Supra after all. To say that news of the 2020 Supra has been a poorly kept secret is an understatement. From the Toyota FT-1 to the 2020 Supra Concept, the Supra’s return has been highly anticipated.

2020 Supra Specifications

Ever since the release of the FT-1 was made official, the new Supra has been talked about. All of the spy photos and leaks have led to the culmination that is the 2020 Supra. But what makes the Supra go? One of the most discussed and debated of new Supra specifications was naturally around the engine.

After all, following up the legendary 2JZGTE is no small task. The previous generation Supra was known for producing copious amounts of power and being bulletproof to boot. Of the Supra specifications that matter however, it’s safe to say that the Toyota / BMW partnership has been a rousing success.

Despite the BMW Z4 producing more power, the strongest of
Supra specifications is the power plant. Churning 335 horsepower and 365 pound feet of torque with an 8-speed automatic transmission getting power to the ground, the new Supra has power to spare. This is before any modifications, so you can only imagine what the future will bring.

According to Toyota’s Supra specifications, this combination is good for a 4.1 second sprint from 0-60 when launch control is used. Like the Nissan GT-R, the new Supra will be an automatic transmission equipped vehicle only.

2020 Supra Specifications

The BMW Z4 shares the same engine, but is rated at 382 horsepower along with 369 pound-feet of torque. Toyota’s chart of Supra specifications also lists the new Supra at a total 3397 curb weight.

Toyota’s chart of Supra specifications also specs a variable suspension and an active differential. This will help keep the new Supra under control at the limit. One of the obvious benefits to the BMW partnership is the recognized trait of torque control between the rear wheels.

This kind of 50/50 weight distribution and torque control is yet to be evaluated, but Toyota isn’t bringing back the Supra to play second fiddle to the GT-R.

Much like the BMW namesake, the Supra interior also looks the part. From infotainment features such as Driver assistance and Wireless Apple carplay are standard. Looking for a price tag on the new Supra specifications? The new Supra will start at $49,990 and the first 1,500 units in the US will be limited edition launch models.
