In what could possibly be the worst kept secret in recent history, the 2020 Supra is finally official. Toyota announced it’s flagship supercar, relieving years of mounting Internet rumors.
Rumors of the next generation Supra are nothing new among automotive fans and sport compact enthusiasts. In fact these rumors started not long after the last Toyota Supra MKIV rolled off the factory floor in late 1997.
The new Supra has been so talked about in fact, that Toyota even joked that the supercar was “the worst kept secret of all time.” News of the partnership between BMW and Toyota had fans clamoring and dreaming that the 2020 Supra would be something a lot like the Toyota FT-1.
So to say that Toyota unveiling the new 2020 Supra at the Detroit Auto Show is extremely big news. We’ve brought you the lowdown to the new Supra before, and now Toyota makes it official. The 2020 Supra could possibly be the supercar that we want and need.
Inside look at the 2020 Supra
Co-developed with BMW the new Supra teases tons of performance and style to spare. At the heart of the 2020 Supra is the same powerplant and drivetrain found in the new Z4. Although there are many similarities, Toyota insists that the Supra has more than it’s fair share of upgrades and development not found in the German counterpart.
Either way, the 2020 Supra looks every bit the part. Low, mean and aggressive styling headline the changes to the Japanese supercar.
Want to see what the new Supra looks like? You’ll need to wait for the 2019 Detroit Auto Show in January to get a glance. Most eager of all is the aftermarket world, and what better timing as SEMA is right around the corner.
Many high profile cars have launched at the iconic car show of late. Toyota is the latest in the long line of distinguished supercars, and most certainly one of the most anticipated.
Could the new 2020 Supra be the next supercar? How similar will it be to the BMW Z4? Most of all what is the sticker price going to be on this beast? What do you think?
