Smashed engine connectors and damaged wiring harnesses are nothing new for engine swappers. One of the most common damaged harness parts in any 2JZGTE JDM imported motorset is the ignition subharness.

Note the orientation of the ignition coil connectors, by way of the isolator boots on the coil wires themselves. The red isolator boot is wired for ground and is usually PIN 1 on your 2JZGTE ignition coil connector.

Pull up the locking ring of your existing 2JZ ignition coil connector and insert a needle to depress the front half of the metal clips. You are aiming for this locking flap portion of the wiring clip with your needle, as illustrated below. Pushing through will allow you to release on the plastic tab that holds the wire in place.

  1. That little metal clip is not what unlocks the terminal,( that little metal clips maintains pin alignment while it is in the connector.) there is a little plastic lance in the connector that gets pushed up, that is what unlocks the terminal. And no disrespect intended, But that seal you have installed on the wire is backwards also, you sont want someone to botch something cause they were misled.

    • Yes the wording here is perhaps incorrect but the location of where you want to place your pin to release is not, I’ll definitely reword it to improve the accuracy thank you. And yes one of the seals on one of the pictures is incorrect, it’s redone in the final picture. No disrespect taken! thanks for reading and commenting Joe.
