Never one to rest on their performance laurels, Porsche turned up the heat by redesigning the 2019 Porsche 911 RSR. The heralded supercar has been an excellent performer on multiple levels, taking home over 20 class wins and making its mark on the FIA World Championship. Now the world-famous 911 gets a complete overhaul, resulting in the all-new 2019 Porsche 911 RSR.

Originally revealed in 2017, the 911 RSR has definitely fulfilled its namesake and the long-standing legacy behind the 911 badge. What has changed with the 2019 Porsche 911 RSR redesign? Let’s take a peek.

The biggest news from the announcement is of course the shift to a mid-engine configuration. Along with that the reworked six cylinder engine increases overall output with a total of 507 horsepower. Although this represents a very small increase in overall power, Porsche reports that the bandwidth of deliverable power is increased for better power delivery.

Porsche has gone ahead and announced that the heart of the 2019 Porsche 911 RSR is the largest boxer engine ever put into a 911.

Paired to a sequential six-speed manual transmission, Porsche pulled out all the stops for delivery control. The six-speed transmission is housed in a magnesium casing paired to Porsche’s patented electronic shift actuator controlled by the pair of paddle shifters mounted up front.

Porsche has taken great measures to eliminate the automatic traits of paddle shifters, with a heavy focus on exact shifting and control. Complete with a smart differential and a triple disk carbon racing clutch, the 911 puts down the power with remarkable efficiency.

The redesigned 2019 Porsche 911 RSR also features a reinforced chassis geared to improve performance and stability. With dual exiting exhausts and a shorter wheelbase, Porsche claims that the aerodynamic efficiency is greatly increased.

Combined with a host of exterior upgrades, the 2019 Porsche 911 RSR looks ready to seize the moment. Porsche took the time to upgrade the hood, front bumper, and splitter on the redesigned 911 RSR, and time will tell just effective these changes will be in the real world.

Tipping the scales at just a tick over 2,700 lbs, the 2019 911 RSR will make its debut at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed. What do you think about the redesigned 2019 Porsche 911 RSR? Leave us a comment below and let us know!
