News of the new Ford GT just dropped, which means the return of one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. Along with a teaser picture of the all-new GT, Ford has all the automotive world abuzz with the bombshell. Official statement is scheduled for July 4th, during the Goodwood Festival of Speed where further details will be revealed.
According to Ford, the new supercar will house a 3.5L Ecoboost engine has its base platform. They go further by outlining a dedication to efficient electronic aerodynamics and increased technology which begs to question whether or not the new Ford GT may have an electric surprise.
What could the new GT have in store? Could there be an electric motor onboard? The integration between traditional combustion engines and electric hypercar technology is getting better, but by no means has it been a slam dunk for production supercars.
Ford hasn’t revealed much about the new GT, even by automotive leak standards. What we can tell from the shadowy image released by the Blue Oval are the aggressive stance and menacing body lines outlined by the Ford GT.
We are forced to wait until Independence Day for further news, but until then the rumor mill will remain abuzz. Should the Ford GT share similar electric powertrain, Ford should look to avoid mistakes that other manufacturers may have taken.
Regardless of rumor however, there’s one thing patently clear. Ford is not resting on their laurels and looks to take their dedication and passion for motorsports to a new level with the new GT.
