Being able to have a full Frontier stereo wiring chart in front of you makes your Frontier stereo installation a breeze.
Today I’ll be showing you the Nissan Frontier Stereo wiring guide for all years of Frontier truck. From 1997 to 2014 this car audio wiring guide can help you getting any car stereo install completed.
First Gen Nissan Frontier stereo wiring 1997–2000
The first Frontier uses a double DIN setup which is located in the center console. Upgrading the factory Frontier radio is simple to do, and usually you won’t require a new stereo bracket.
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Pink
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Blue
Car Radio Ground Wire: Chassis
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Red/Blue
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Red/Yellow
Removing this double DIN factory radio, and upgrading to a single DIN with a DIN pocket is easy as well.
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Pink
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black
The rear Frontier speaker connections can be accessed from behind the factory radio. You can also upgrade these speakers through the rear panels in the cab of your Frontier truck.
You can also easily install a car amplifier or crossover for use in your Frontier speakers.
Left Rear Speaker Positive (+): Light Green
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Violet
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Blue
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Pink
Second Gen Nissan Frontier stereo wiring 2001-2004
The changes to the next generation of Frontier truck include moving the radio higher on your dashboard. This can make it easier to upgrade although certain single DIN stereos can be difficult, especially if you are using a motorized face.
Frontier Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Pink
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Blue
Car Radio Ground Wire: Gray or Chassis
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Red/Blue
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Red/Yellow
Removing the double DIN in this Frontier is easy to do if you are upgrading to a double DIN stereo. You may need a Frontier install kit to fill up one half of the Frontier factory radio if you wanting a single DIN Frontier stereo install.
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Pink
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Light Green
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Violet
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Blue
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Pink
Third Gen Nissan Frontier stereo wiring 2004-2009
There is a interior redesign that changed things quite a bit during this year range of Nissan truck. Depending on what kind of aftermarket Frontier radio you are wanting to install, you may or may not need a custom stereo install kit.
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Yellow
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Green/Black
Car Radio Ground Wire: Chassis
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Red/Blue
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Red/Yellow
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: Green/White
The Frontier stereo moved upwards and close to the top of the dash in this year range. Sitting just below the dash pocket on top of the Frontier dashboard, you can easily upgrade your Frontier radio.
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue
Upgrading to a full dual DIN stereo is also made easy because of this positioning. You would be better off going with one with a tilt face or a motorized face. This is because of the positioning of your Frontier stereo, and the way that sun can ruin your visibility.
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Light Green
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Red
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Gray
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Orange
Nissan Frontier stereo wiring 2009 – 2014
The last range of Frontier stereo wiring pinouts is below. This generation of truck will require a custom install kit and a stereo install panel.
Car Radio Battery Constant 12V+ Wire: Yellow
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12V+ Wire: Green/Black
Car Radio Ground Wire: Chassis
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Red
Car Radio Dimmer Wire: Gray
To get to the Frontier stereo in this model, you’ll need to remove the radio panel. This paneling snaps off and from here you can access the Frontier stereo brackets.
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Light Green
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Red
Up front the Frontier speakers measure 6″ x 9″ and are mounted into the front door panels.
Installing a subwoofer or navigation system is easy to do because of the center console panel in your Nissan truck.
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Gray
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Orange

Hello, my husband just got a 2019 nissan frontier sv. I would like to upgrade his system so he can use his non-iphone through the usb. He needs the car stereo wiring diagram before they will do the install. Is this something you can help me out with?
Hi Grace, thanks for reading
I wouldn’t have the 2019 Frontier stereo wiring handy just yet but these wiring guides are updated routinely. However you can easily find a wiring plug and play harness that can complete the job for you. Depending on the make of the stereo, simple plug and play kits can accept USB or alternately you can simply connect through a USB / Bluetooth adapter.
Hope that helps! Thanks for reading!
