This is a Ford Focus Stereo Wiring diagram that will help you install or repair your radio. Whether you are a professional stereo installer or weekend warrior who likes to do it yourself, our guide can help you get the job done. This wiring guide can help you re-install your factory radio or an aftermarket stereo into your Ford Focus.
Today I will be showing you how to wire in any device or stereo into your Ford Focus. There’s three generations of Focus we will be covering. Because of the center console and radio setup of the Ford Focus, you are best off purchasing a install kit when you want to upgrade.
1998–2004 Ford Focus Stereo Wiring
Our wiring section at My Pro Street is dedicated to wiring schematics for your Ford. Our complete catalog of car audio wiring diagrams is completely laid out for you to use. The Ford Focus car wiring diagram listed on this page can help you enjoy your new or used radio, instead of wasting time looking up the wiring for your Focus
As stated earlier if you are installing a new or aftermarket stereo into your Focus, you will need a install kit like the one shown above. These install kits provide a plastic trim that your stereo will easily slide into.

2004–2010 Ford Focus Stereo Wiring
The second gen Ford Focus has very similar car stereo wiring to the first generation. There are two exceptions however that you must be aware of. The second generation Focus Stereo Wiring uses the switched 12 volt accessory through the car’s CAN data network. This wire is a GRAY wire with a ORANGE stripe, or a VIOLET wire with an ORANGE STRIPE.
Also you will need to wire the Focus Stereo Wiring illumination through the GRAY wire with an ORANGE stripe, or a VIOLET wire with an ORANGE STRIPE. Like the 12 volt accessory, the Focus Stereo Wiring illumination is controlled through the CAN data network.

The third generation Focus features a highly restyled dashboard. This factory stereo is nestled into a molded dash, so upgrading is slightly more complicated. Like the generations before this one, the third gen Focus needs an car stereo radio install kit.
Most install kits require you to replace the center console, or change out the factory Focus navigation unit.

What about the Left Front speaker positive wire for 2010-2015 Focus?
Hey how about the 2016 focus base radio?
Hi Alex, we’ll be adding a 2016 Ford Focus Stereo wiring guide soon! Thanks!
Hello! What about the steering wheel controls in a 2007 Focus? How are they connected?
Hi Chenago!
You can opt to use an adapter for your steering wheel controls. These kinds of kits can easily be found online through Crutchfield or a similar brand and will connect via a plug and play connector to the back of your Ford Focus stereo.
Thanks for commenting! Best of luck!
2017 Ford Focus ST.
I found the Brown wire with a red stripe to be the power wire, along with the black solid wire being the ground. However, on my Pioneer AVH600EX there is a yellow wire for “Memory/Constant”, where do i attach that wire into the factory harness? Ive done everything from splicing into the 12V cigarette lighter, to running it to the fuse box using an aux power supply like for example the interior lights or even tried the luggage compartment fuse. The radio will power on in either scenario, however the it will stay on even after the car is locked and shut down.
Please Help!
Hi Branden, thanks for reading.
Okay so your Pioneer AVH600EX stereo has a memory / constant wire but the Ford Focus stereo stays on regardless? I would try tapping the Focus ignition column. Using a multimeter, measure the switched power wire. This is the wire that will measure voltage with the Focus key switched to the “ON” position.
Try that next and let me know! Hope that helps. Thanks for commenting!
The light brown wire on the small connector that goes to the screen over the stereo. The one that tells you what song your listening to ect. That is your switch power.
Hi I have the exact same car a Ford Focus 2017 but I’m trying to figure out which one is the ignition wire I can’t figure it out the and the amplifier stays on, the subwoofer goes crazy once I turn the car off
Hi Liz, thanks for reading.
Are you tapping into your steering column for switched power in your Ford Focus?
Hey. So I have four wires out of my stereo harness I don’t know where to connect to.
Two say key and key 2
One is pink
And one says ill
I have no idea what wires to connect these two. There are two three wires still not connect in the car. One is blue and grey one is purple and grey and one is black and red… Please help! My stereo won’t shut off now!!! And I don’t know where the rest of these wires go!!!
Hi Zack, unfortunately without a diagram of your stereo there’s no way for me to know what wire goes to what Ford Focus wire. Offhand, I would say that KEY 1, and KEY 2 are switched power. The ILL is your illumination, which you can leave for now. The pink wire usually means the remote switch, which you can also leave. I would start with a multimeter, here’s a guide to start :
https://my.prostreetonline.com/2014/10/14/how-to-use-a-multimeter/
Use that and read the power wires that goes to your KEY1 and KEY2. If there’s constant voltage, you know why your stereo wont shut off.
Hope that helps.
Hi there I have a 2014 Ford Focus SE and I’m trying to add a amp and sub. I used a 2 channel line out put for the radio to connect RCA cables. The sub woofer is an Rockvilla 12” amp&sub and need a remote turn on wire. I connected it 2 he red and brown wire but when I turn off the car the amp turns on make the sub go crazyy! What wire is to turn on and off the radio?
Hi Daniel, you are looking for the remote switch wire, and it’s blue. Best of luck on your Focus stereo upgrade.
