Say goodbye to the iconic flagship 4door BMW M3, and hello to it’s newest release the 2door BMW M4 Coupe. BMW calls it “The true essence of BMW.” and from the outside, it certainly looks as though BMW will not be taking any performance away from the aggressive looking sports coupe. Replacing the legendary M3 is no small feat however, one of the world’s most respected and revered performance nameplates.
What will power the new M4?
Many of the rumors have BMW linking the M4 to a turbocharged 4.4L V8, turbocharged 4.0L V8, and a 3.2L inline-6 with three turbochargers! After the companies recently patent filing for it’s sequential turbo setup, a twin turbo V6 certainly seems like a good candidate.
BMW has hinted at a V6 twinscroll solution, of which it’s primary turbocharger exhaust gases can be routed to either another exit or another turbo. Could BMW be leaning towards a true sequential or bi-turbo powerplant for their newest flagship? Only time will tell.
