Everyone has heard the old science fiction and movie tropes of flying cars and futuristic vehicles. When is the last time you heard someone older ask when flying cars were going to become a reality? Of course most modern techno-geeks will tell you that self driving cars, not flying ones are the future. Someone forgot to tell Google co-founder, who is reported to be developing a Larry Page flying car in complete secret.

According to a recent post from Bloomberg, Larry Page is secretly backing not just one but two flying car startups. These two Larry Page flying car startups are located near Google’s headquarters in Northern California.

Bloomberg reports that Page is a major backer of both Zee.Aero and a smaller company called Kitty Hawk. Located in Mountain View, their flying car technology has been quietly evolving in secret. It appears that the entire investment is extremely secretive, with many reports showing that Page vowed to remove support if his backing was made public.

Although there’s not much known about these companies or their Larry Page flying car technology, we do know that Page invested upwards of $100 million dollars.

There have been reports, according to the Bloomberg report of public Larry Page flying car sightings. Some of these sightings have identified flying craft with Zee.Aero badges. These Larry Page flying car prototypes have been described as having a narrow body and a bulbous cockpit.

Looking up their official Zee.Aero website doesn’t cast much more light on these Larry Page flying car concepts. It does hint at electric propulsion as being the primary source of power however. And most eye witness reports describe the Larry Page flying car concept as “something that resembles a giant version of a quadcopter drone.”

It’s not clear how far along these Larry Page flying car have gotten, but with the threat of Page pulling his support it could become a non-story before they even get a chance to get off the ground. Google’s interest and investment in their self-driving technology is just a indication to the keen eye they have towards the future.
