There’s several generations of the Acura TL, and the early models share quite a bit in common with the CL. These are easier Acuras to install and upgrade your TL stereo, as they utilize a standard DIN configuration. Even if you are a professional mobile car stereo installer, you can use our TL stereo wiring schematic to complete your TL radio install.
First Gen TL stereo wiring guide 1997-1998
The early Acura TL stereo install is easier than some of the later models, but will still require you to disassemble the center console. Once you have the side panels removed from your Acura center console, you can access the TL stereo mounting brackets.
Radio Constant Wire 12V+: Blue/White
Radio Switched Wire 12V+: Yellow/Red

Upgrading your Acura TL speakers is easier because they are in the door panels. These are 5 ” x 7 ” speakers, and can be upgraded easily. To access your rear speakers you may need to open your TL trunk to access the rear deck.

Second Gen TL stereo wiring guide 2000-2003

Acura TL stereo upgrades in this generation will still require you to remove the center console. However this stereo upgrade will need you to use a stereo install kit. This install kit will replace the front fascia and come with custom single or double DIN mounting brackets.

Third Gen TL stereo wiring guide 2004-2008
The Acura TL stereo install gets more complicated from this generation onward. These center consoles and dashboards use a custom layout, which will definitely require a custom stereo install kit.

The Acura TL Stereo amplifier is mounted in the passenger side kick panel and may require you to remove the glove box. This TL stereo amplifier can be replaced without removing it however, by using the TL stereo wiring guide to bypass it.
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green

When upgrading your TL stereo of this generation, you will need an Acura stereo install kit. Most kits come with the plastic panel that will make your aftermarket stereo look like it came from the factory.
The front Acura TL speakers are mounted in the doors. You can access these to upgrade them by simply removing the speaker paneling.
You may need to disconnect the Acura TL window controls. The rear TL speakers are mounted into the panels, and are easily upgraded with 6 ” x 9 ” upgraded speakers.

Fourth Gen TL stereo wiring guide 2009-2014
Upgrading your TL stereo in the last generation of Acura will not be easy. This is due to the integration of the factory stereo and navigation system. If you are serious about upgrading your Acura TL stereo install, you can ditch the factory backup screen and navigation to install your own.

To find the Acura TL car stereo amplifier in the last generation of TL, you will need to open your trunk. You may need to remove the paneling that surrounds your spare tire to get to the amp. The car stereo amplifier is mounted to the passenger side of your trunk. You will need to remove your Acura TL car stereo amplifier in order to upgrade it.
