First Gen CRV stereo wiring guide 1997–2001
The early Honda CR-V came with the non-VTEC version of the popular DOHC B series engine. As you would expect this Honda used a double DIN radio opening, with a single DIN pocket under the factory stereo.

Depending on what trim of Honda CRV you own, you may have an optional CD changer in the lower single DIN slot. In order to access your factory stereo, you will need to disassemble the CRV center console and remove the front plastic fascia.
When installing a single DIN aftermarket stereo, you can use the factory mounting brackets.
To connect a car stereo amplifier to your rear speakers, you can wire them directly in through the CRV wiring harness. These rear speakers are 6 1/2″ in size and mounted into the rear side panels of your Honda CRV.
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): Blue/Yellow
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Gray/White
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Red/Yellow

Removal of your factory stereo is also done by removing the front plastic fascia.
Once this radio is removed, you can install a double DIN unit with using aftermarket stero mounting guides.

Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Light Green
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Green/Yellow
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): Gray/Red
When connecting your rear speakers, you’ll need to rewire the factory harness. You can make a stereo install easier by using a plug and play stereo harness, but if you don’t have that our CRV Stereo Wiring can help you save money and time.

This is the last generation of Honda CRV that will not require a custom radio install kit.
Most of these aftermarket install kits include a replacement face that will help bring back the OEM appearance of your stereo and dashboard.

Could have used your 2012+ info as I am installing a Seicane Android 9 aftermarket radio. What I cannot seem to find is the pinouts for the rear camera attached to the center MID unit. I want to transfer the camera wires to the new head unit. Might you know what those pinouts are? Thx for any help you can offer.

Jerry, check the Body Control Unit harness for your CRV to find the factory camera output. Hope that helps!
On my 04 crv everythi g came on no sound?
Hi Marc, sorry to hear about your Honda CR-V stereo problems. Was there an amp previously installed on your Honda? Did you buy the car used? Does everything seem to work other than no sound?
How did you get it on I still have an extra red wire coming from the car and the radio won’t get power , checked all fusses and they are fine.
Logan, what are you using for your CRV stereo ground wire?
Hello, my vehicle is a 2007 Honda CR-V EX 1-CTDI and the main 40 amp battery fuse blew! When I replaced it, everything went back to normal except the radio/ sat nav which was lifeless. I checked the radio fuse, number34 which was good and there is power at the fuse when ignition is on. So, I checked for power at the back of the sterio unit and found two live wires which suggested to me that the fault was in the sterio unit. So, I spent £250 on a replacement unit which of course didn`t solve the problem!! What I really need is a wiring diagram to find out which wire is the main power supply to the unit from the fuse, to check for continuity or perhaps there is another fuse that I don`t know about.
Thank you from David Kear
Hi David, thanks for reading
Couple of questions for you. Did you use a wiring loom for installation of your CRV stereo? Do you still have the factory wiring in place? How many power wires are coming from the Honda CRV stereo wiring?

Hi Mohammad, sorry to hear about your CRV stereo problems.
Is this a new head unit? or did you recently have some service done? When you press CD or AUX on your head unit, what happens? is there a message or does it seem like it’ working but with no sound?
How can I get the original wiring for my 2018 Honda CRV radio unit?
