Japan has never been a country that shied away from the weird or unconventional, so in that regard using anime girls to pitch the Toyota Prius makes sense. Toyota has bucked normal convention with their latest commercial around the 2016 Prius. Coined the Prius Impossible Girls, this collection of anime girls represents different aspects of the popular Toyota hybrid.
The new 2016 Toyota Prius has undergone a set of new revisions geared to improve an already incredible machine. Whatever possessed Toyota to use anime girls to push their car however, we’ll never know.
Each one of the anime girls is supposed to represent a part of the Prius, and you can check out ten of them above. Anime is one of the most popular animation styles to come out of Japan and it’s certainly gained a worldwide following but the decision to use it to pitch the Prius seems a bit odd. Not only that but there’s a scantily-clad Japanese girl that’s supposed to be the “handling” part of the Toyota Prius.
What. The. Hell.
Anyway these 40 anime girls headline every part of a new 2016 Toyota Prius, from the door chime to the hybrid technology. Toyota announced the collection of anime characters as the Impossible Girls, and who the hell knows what that means. Colorful, bright and a tad cheeky, there’s no way that the Prius Impossible Girls make it into the new Prius Super Bowl commercial.
Enjoy the Prius Impossible Girls video above, and it’s entertaining if not just a bit weird. But as one might expect, it’s definitely no where near the title of the weirdest Japanese commercials of all time. Whether you are an anime fan or not, there’s certainly something to be said for Toyota’s attitude and bold marketing strategy.
It may work in Japan but we just don’t see it working here in the United States. Regardless you can’t hate on the weirdness that is this Prius Impossible Girls video. Want to check out more automotive news and videos? Subscribe to My Pro Street today.
