FAQ : 2JZGTE VVTi ECU Pinout

The VVTi version of the 2JZGTE was originally found in a JZA80 Supra from September 1997 until well after it’s discontinuation in 2002. The 2JZ VVTi engine was the first to incorporate variable cam timing that’s now found in just about every kind of production engine for efficiency.

The 3.0 liter Toyota VVti 2JZ was rated at  209 @ 5600 (280 hp) and 338 ft lbs of torque @ 3600 RPM. It shares many of the same parts as the non VVti 2JZGTE, from rods, crank, pistons and bearings. If you have sourced a VVTI 2JZ from a JDM engine importer for engine swap purposes, make sure you have the engine management required to operate this motor correctly.

The VVTI comes with 440cc high impedence injectors and a hot-wire style mass air flow sensor. Thankfully it still retains the fly by wire throttle style of throttle body, making it a tad easier in some respects for engine swap duty.
