This unique mixture of weight balance and options has transformed the Japanese sports coupe into one of the most popular modified car platforms, capable of racing no matter what it is. If its a straight line or race track, the 240SX is comfortable in almost any motosports setting.
Customers familiar with competition know that they need every ounce of available performance squeezed from your car to be at your best at the track. Having the ability to adjust camber and bending every single degree of adjustment to your favor increases the chances you and your car land in the winners circle.
We’ll be installing a Megan Rear Upper Control Arm in a customer’s 1996 Nissan 240SX. This suspension arm will allow you to adjust rear camber and caster as well as dial in whatever settings you see fit. Part number for this unit is MRS-NS-1823, and it’s a fairly simple job to perform but you will need an alignment shop to complete this task and installation.

Constructed of high-strength steel alloys that offer durability, strength and yet remain light-weight, these control arms have been track tested for months in road race, autocross and drift events to assure quality and performance.

As with all of our writeups and guides, if you are not comfortable working on your own vehicle stop now and take your car to an experienced ASE certified mechanic. These Megan Arms replace the ends and the stock OEM rubber bushings with upgraded hemispherical bearings and pillowball joints that will translate into steering feedback and crisper response.

The adjustability of these arms means that you will most likely require an alignment after you install these upper arms, so make sure to plan ahead so that you are not stuck driving or ruining your tires.

First raise the vehicle and secure it with jackstands if you are not working with an automotive lift. Make sure to take proper steps to ensure that your vehicle is secure and safe. Always operate with safety in mind first and foremost.

Once your 240SX is raised and secured, you can now remove your rear wheels allowing you full access to your rear suspension arms and rear shocks.

Begin by undoing the inner bolt that secures your stock rear upper control arm in place, this joins into your rear subframe and is a 17mm bolt and nut.

Now move onto the outer bolt that should give you the ability to remove the rear upper control arm all together. Once you have these 2 bolts removed, you should now be looking at something like this.

Now take your stock rear upper control arm and your new Megan unit and take the Megan arm to adjust the turnbuckle until your arms are roughly the same length and direction.

You are evening out your new adjustable Megan arm and your stock unit in an effort to try and replicate the rear camber setting from before you removed the stock arm. If your camber was not ideal to begin with, you may want to skip this step and move directly on to installing your Megan arm.

Now you have your Megan rear Upper Control arm in place, go ahead and tighten down the bolts and torque to specification. These Megan rear upper control arms will allow you to adjust the static camber of your rear wheels, as the actual curve of the arm dictates the camber curve as well as the roll center.

Now go get an alignment and get to racing!

Happy Drifting!
