The Nissan 240Z is one of the most historic import vehicles of all time. Whether you trace back the legendary track of racing heritage back to the 1970s SCCA racing circuit or the modern racers who love it’s pre-smog status, it’s still an iconic symbol of days long past.
Which makes the SEMA 240Z being built by Hollywood actor Sung Kang and Greddy Performance one of the most unique machines we’re ready to check out at the 2015 SEMA Show. This SEMA 240Z promises to be a wild machine, built by Greddy Performance and covered by the SPEED network in their upcoming feature Z Dream.
Coined the FuguZ this incredible Nissan is definitely one to keep your eye on in the SEMA booth.
Hollywood actor Sung Kang is best known for his role as Han in the Fast and Furious movie series, and his love for import performance is well known. So when the decision was announced to ditch the 2.4 liter inline six L24, and move to the 2.6 RB26DE powerplant from the Nissan Skyline GTR, our ears perked up.
Preliminary specifications from Greddy Performance has this 2.6 liter revving to 12,000 RPM and belting out some serious horsepower and torque. Given the legendary status of the R34 and R32 Skyline, the RB26 promises to be one of the more memorable builds at the 2015 SEMA show.
Interestingly enough, the Hollywood actor is supposedly opting to stick to the naturally aspirated nature of the RB26DE rather than the twin-turbo setup of the RB26DETT. As many performance fans know, there’s a whole lot more on tap than the 300 limited ponies found in the RB26DETT powered Skyline R34 that was a “gentleman’s limit” set by the Japanese automakers of that era.
Because Kang is using the Na version of the 2.6 liter DOHC Nissan engine known as the RB26DE, our interest is definitely peaked. This NA model put down 217 horsepower in stock form and promises to be a screaming rev monster that’s capable of more than most performance enthusiasts are willing to admit.
The 1973 Nissan is sure to be one of the more interesting builds, and the SEMA 240Z will make it’s appearance on FOX Sports Digital in a five part documentary series. Titled the Z Dream, the S30 found on these pages was built in just 65 days and the grueling build will be shown in full un-glorified manner through the SPEED network.
