When a car idles rough immediately after refueling, test the EVAP purge valve first. A valve that leaks while closed can fill the intake with fuel vapor, causing long cranking, rich operation, shaking, or stalling until the excess vapor burns away.

Also check whether the tank was topped off, whether liquid fuel reached the charcoal canister, and whether the problem continues while driving. Persistent symptoms after one particular fill-up raise concern for contaminated or incorrect fuel. A loose cap can trigger a warning light, but it usually doesn’t explain severe post-fill rough running by itself.

Record the pattern, scan the codes, inspect for leaks, and verify purge flow before buying parts. The fuel nozzle already took enough money from you. There’s no reason to let the parts cannon finish the job.
