GRIDLIFE Laguna Festival returns to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca from September 18–20, 2026, with three days of time attack, wheel-to-wheel racing, professional drifting, tuner-car displays and live music.
Calling it a track weekend doesn’t quite cover the situation.
Nearly 100 TrackBattle drivers will chase lap records in everything from modified Honda Fits to 1,000-plus-horsepower aerodynamic weapons. More than 50 motorcycle-powered RUSH race cars will compete throughout the weekend, while an exceptionally strong drifting roster prepares to send tandem trains through the Corkscrew.
GRIDLIFE will also host hundreds of Mazda MX-5s, historic four-rotor Mazda race cars, an aftermarket show field and evening performances headlined by Dillon Francis, A-Trak and Chromeo’s Dave 1.
For Northern California enthusiasts, this may be the most complete combination of motorsports and modified-car culture scheduled for September.

Nearly 100 Cars Will Attack Laguna Seca’s Lap Records
TrackBattle Time Attack will bring nearly 100 competitors to Laguna Seca’s 2.24-mile road course.
Instead of racing directly for position, TrackBattle drivers compete against the clock across seven performance classes. That format produces an unusually diverse field because a relatively humble chassis can share the program with a machine generating four-digit horsepower and enough aerodynamic load to make its bodywork look mildly upset.
Expected entries range from Honda Fits and recognizable street-based platforms to extensively developed Unlimited-class cars.
The Corkscrew makes the competition especially demanding. Drivers must manage the circuit’s blind approach, rapid elevation change and difficult weight transfer while attempting to extract every fraction of a second.
That gives Pro Street TV several stronger angles than a conventional race recap:
- Street chassis converted into dedicated time-attack cars
- Functional aerodynamic development
- Tire and suspension setup
- Turbocharger and cooling-system packaging
- Lap-time differences between performance classes
- The compromises involved in keeping a modified vehicle reliable
Readers preparing their own modified cars can find additional technical articles and project guidance at My Pro Street. Performance components and automotive accessories are available through the Pro Street Online store.
Professional Drifters Will Attack the Corkscrew
The drifting program may be GRIDLIFE Laguna’s most visually impressive feature.
Confirmed drivers include Vaughn Gittin Jr., Chris Forsberg, Matt Coffman, Justin Pawlak, Matt Field and Forrest Wang. Local drivers, including members of Team Animal Style, will join the professional roster.
These aren’t low-speed demonstrations arranged around cones in a vendor lot. GRIDLIFE plans full-course freestyle drifting, including multi-car trains descending through the Corkscrew at considerable speed.
There are no competition points or judges. The format is designed around driver expression, tandem proximity and spectacle rather than eliminating competitors through a traditional bracket.
Watching five drift cars enter a blind downhill corner together should produce considerably more excitement than watching someone rev a parked car until its cooling fans request legal representation.
Three Wheel-to-Wheel Racing Series Are Scheduled
GRIDLIFE Laguna isn’t relying entirely on drifting and time attack.
The weekend includes three separate wheel-to-wheel categories:
Eibach GRIDLIFE Touring Cup
GRIDLIFE Touring Cup uses a controlled power-to-weight formula of 12.5 pounds per horsepower. It accepts front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive platforms, producing a mixed field of recognizable enthusiast cars.
Races last approximately 15 minutes, with four sprint races scheduled during the weekend. The compact format places more emphasis on starts, traffic management and direct competition without requiring spectators to wait several hours for something interesting to happen.
GRIDLIFE GT
GRIDLIFE GT applies a similar power-to-weight concept to faster machinery with more horsepower and aerodynamic capability.
Porsches, Corvettes and other performance platforms compete in short sprint races rather than longer endurance events. The series should offer useful comparisons between engine layouts, chassis configurations and aero strategies.
GRIDLIFE RUSH Series
More than 50 RUSH sports racers are expected to compete in four races.
These purpose-built cars use Suzuki GSX-S motorcycle engines capable of approximately 11,000 rpm. Their low weight, sequential transmissions and tightly controlled specifications create close racing with considerably more noise than their physical size suggests.
The Miata Reunion Brings Hundreds of MX-5s
The 2026 Miata Reunion will occupy a dedicated area above Turn 1.
Organizers expect hundreds of Mazda MX-5 builds, along with guest appearances, a specialized vendor village and a large model-specific car show. Multiple Miata generations should be represented, from early NA roadsters to current ND competition cars.
That concentrated field could support a complete secondary feature covering:
- NA, NB, NC and ND generation differences
- Naturally aspirated and forced-induction builds
- Track-prepared suspension packages
- Wheel and tire combinations
- Engine swaps
- Spec racing and time-attack conversions
- Street-driven MX-5 projects
The MX-5 has survived for decades by remaining light, approachable and relatively simple. Apparently, building a sports car around steering feel and reasonable weight was not merely a temporary failure of imagination.
Historic Four-Rotor Mazda Race Cars Are Coming
Mazda Motorsports will display two significant competition cars from its heritage collection: the 1991 Mazda RX-7 GTO and the 1992 Mazda RX-792P.
Both vehicles use high-revving four-rotor engines. GRIDLIFE says the cars will be started periodically, giving attendees an opportunity to hear the rotary powerplants rather than quietly inspecting them behind velvet ropes.
The RX-792P was developed for IMSA competition following Mazda’s victory at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans. Its naturally aspirated R26B engine connects it directly to one of the most recognizable periods in Japanese motorsports history.
For Pro Street TV, the display creates an obvious historical bridge between early rotary racing development and the modified RX-7s still appearing at track days and tuner shows.
The GRIDLIFE Showfield Covers More Than Race Cars
The Lakebed show area will include several distinct display groups.
The main GRIDLIFE Showcase is intended for highly finished builds from different automotive communities. Additional areas include the FCP Euro Corral, Subimods Corral and Hyundai N Corral.
That division should make the show field easier to cover because each section offers a coherent editorial theme:
- European performance and track builds
- Modified Subaru platforms
- Hyundai N development
- Japanese tuner cars
- Street-driven time-attack projects
- Show-quality vehicles with functional engineering
The paddock is also included with general admission, allowing spectators to see competition cars between sessions. That matters because the engineering is often more interesting after the hood comes off and the polished promotional language stops doing all the work.
Dodge Thrill Rides and Drift Karts Add Passenger Experiences
Dodge will operate a closed-course passenger experience using vehicles from its current performance lineup.
The program gives attendees a chance to experience acceleration and vehicle dynamics without placing their own cars at risk. It also supplies a practical fallback for anyone who wants tire smoke but forgot to bring a competition license, spare wheels and a questionable level of confidence.
Electro & Co. will operate electric drift karts elsewhere on the festival grounds. The off-track program also includes racing simulators, classic arcade cabinets, games and a Forza Horizon 6 installation inspired by Japanese street culture.
GRIDLIFE’s Concert Lineup Runs Friday and Saturday
GRIDLIFE is expanding its Laguna music program for 2026.
Friday night will feature A-Trak and a Chromeo DJ set performed by Dave 1. Dillon Francis headlines the main stage Saturday night, supported by PAL 9000, DJ Cake, DNEB, Pabo Marx, M0SF3T, Dam Shake and Hi-Risk Hi-Reward.
DJs from Offis.Work will also perform near Turn 8 during the Corkscrew Takeover.
Moving the NOS Energy Main Stage into the Lakebed gives GRIDLIFE more room for both the concerts and surrounding vehicle displays. General-admission tickets include access to the AFTERGRID music program.
Tickets and Camping Information
GRIDLIFE offers single-day and weekend admission. Current public ticket listings show entry options starting around $35, but prices vary by day and package. Buyers should verify fees and access details during checkout through the official GRIDLIFE ticket provider.
General admission includes:
- Racing and drifting
- Spectator paddock access
- GRIDLIFE Showfield
- Miata Reunion displays
- Arcade activities
- AFTERGRID concerts
- General festival areas
Weekend VIP packages add dedicated viewing areas, hillside parking, early campground access and event merchandise.
Camping is sold separately by vehicle rather than by individual occupant. GRIDLIFE reports that infield availability is nearly exhausted, with limited space remaining in designated sections.
Attendees should review the official Guide to the Grid before traveling. Specific gate hours can differ for spectators, campers, competitors and vendors.
What Pro Street TV Should Cover
GRIDLIFE Laguna offers enough material for several separate videos instead of one frantic montage containing 340 unrelated cars and no useful explanation.
The strongest coverage priorities are:
- TrackBattle engineering: Identify the fastest street-based and Unlimited-class machines, then explain their aero, cooling and powertrain configurations.
- Corkscrew drift trains: Capture the difference between drifting a conventional circuit corner and entering Laguna Seca’s blind downhill complex.
- Mazda rotary history: Compare the RX-7 GTO and RX-792P with modern rotary-powered builds appearing elsewhere at the festival.
- Miata Reunion: Profile owners representing each MX-5 generation and document how their build priorities differ.
- Touring Cup accessibility: Show how production-based platforms become competitive race cars under a controlled power-to-weight format.
- West Coast modification trends: Use the Showfield and corrals to document current wheel, tire, aero and engine-bay trends.
Media applications for Laguna have closed. GRIDLIFE states that late applications will not be considered, each crew member requires separate approval and drones are strictly prohibited.
Professional outlets with existing credentials must follow the assigned access level. Everyone else should purchase admission and avoid entering controlled production areas without permission. Complete requirements are published through the GRIDLIFE media policy.
Future event coverage and vehicle features will be available through the Pro Street TV YouTube channel.
Is GRIDLIFE Laguna Worth Attending?
GRIDLIFE Laguna 2026 is one of the strongest enthusiast events on Northern California’s September calendar.
It combines serious time-attack engineering, accessible wheel-to-wheel racing, professional drifting, significant Mazda race cars, hundreds of Miatas and a curated aftermarket show field at one of America’s most recognizable circuits.
That range matters. A visitor can watch a 1,000-horsepower time-attack car chase a lap record, study a historic four-rotor prototype, inspect a street-driven tuner build and end the evening at a concert without leaving the facility.
The event starts Friday, September 18, and continues through Sunday, September 20. Tickets remain available, but prospective campers should act quickly because several camping sections are approaching capacity.
