Learn how to replace Hyundai Elantra taillights
The tail lamp assembly in your Elantra is very easy to access. To begin the installation of your aftermarket taillights, you will first need to open your trunk.
Once your Hyundai trunk is open, you can begin. The first step to replace Hyundai Elantra taillights is to gently pull up on the weather stripping. This insulation is in place to ensure that no water leaks into your Hyundai trunk.
Use caution when pulling up on this weather seal. You don’t want to cause stress or undue stretching to this stripping. Once you have the Elantra stripping pulled up, you can proceed.
Now that you have the rear panels of your Elantra exposed, you need to pull back on the inner trunk liner. This Elantra trunk liner is secured using pop tabs. Carefully use a panel popper or a kitchen spatula to pop off these plastic tabs.
Once you are done pulling back on this panel, you can now see the rear of your Elantra taillight. This taillight is held into your car using 5 10mm nuts. Before you begin to replace Hyundai Elantra taillights, you will need to unscrew your old factory tail light bulbs.
These bulbs will unscrew from the factory housing. Once they are freed, make sure to inspect the contacts within the Elantra connector. You are looking for corrosion or other potential issues that could mess with your tail light functions.
Once you have the bulbs removed, undo the 10mm nuts that hold your Elantra tail light in place. Gently pull back on the housing to remove the Hyundai taillight.
When you have both sides removed, simply put in your aftermarket Elantra tail light assembly. Secure with the same OE 10mm nuts and use the aftermarket plug and play flying loom to restore light functions.
