Quaife Engineering has unveiled their new sequential 5-speed transmission for the K Series VTEC Honda motor, found in the Honda Civic and Acura RSX. The part number for this dogbox is QKE8J and is available through order with Pro Street Online, timeline for delivery is currently 2-3 months at this time.
These transmissions are build to order, meaning once you place your order for this item Quaife begins the length assembly and production process. Quaife has long been one of our favorite differential companies out there, with many of their units finding their way into our Project DSMs, Hondas and Evolutions.
With a legacy like Quaife’s it’s no wonder why everyone turns to the UK based company for their differential and traction needs. Quaife manufacturers aftermarket axles, gearboxes, transmissions, dogboxes and much much more.
Making their mark in many different forms of motorsports since the 80s, ti wasn’t until the mid 90s and the Ford Escort that dominated the European four-wheel drive rallycrosses that got Quaife on the map. Teaming up with Gordon Spooner Engineering, the company packed their motorsports experience and desire into the development of their four-wheel drive transmission technology and sequential shift mechanisms.
This led Quaife down the eventual path from powering the high horsepower rally cross Escort, to putting the power down on tarmac instead of dirt. Quaife took the transition in stride, preparing for their own V8 powered four-wheel drive British GT Championship contender. Their stable of performance traction products continue to this day in almost every form of motorsports and in the daily driven weekend warrior cars here in the States.
Today Quaife truly has taken their products to the next level, by producing gearboxes and differentials for the Mk1 Ford Focus RS, which used their ATB differential from the factory. More and more manufacturers seem to be lining up to take advantage of Quaife Engineering’s knowledge and expertise when it comes to the ATB differential.
This new QKE8J transmission was designed and developed by Quaife UK to maximize traction and decrease lap times in road racing, circuit or autocross segments. The transmission features wider gears to maximize contact and strength along with an additional housing support bearing between the 4th and 5th gears to increase torque and horsepower capacity.

The use of this bell housing ensures that you will retain use of your Honda original designed clutch as well as any factory differentials and axle lengths as they all remain the same. This drum style slider gear mechanism combined with the use of the open face dog gear design allow for rapid shifting and silky smooth yet quick engagement.
