DTC P0335 – How To Service Your Crank Position Sensor

The OBDII Trouble Code P0335 / P0339 is in regards to your vehicle’s crank position sensor ( CKP ), specifically the ‘A’ circuit voltage being too high or too low in your Lexus. Today we’ll be looking at How To Service Your Crank Position Sensor.

As your ECU is dependent on the data that the crank position sensor provides, many times it will leave your vehicle running poorly or not at all depending on the type of failure you are experiencing.

Tip : Before ordering a replacement crank position sensor, you will want to check the following steps to ensure that something else isn’t causing your OBDII code.
Check Battery and Alternator Voltage – Often times low battery voltage can cause this code to trip, check your vehicle’s voltage.
Check CKP Connector – Make sure the crank position sensor is connected and that there is no break or corrosion preventing contact.
Check your Starter – A faulty starter can also cause this check engine light.

This sensor is connected by a 2 prong weather proof connector and is designed to provide the ECU with the exact position of your crank and the location of your pistons and rods.

To test your 2JZ crankshaft position sensor, unplug the connector and measure the resistance between the 2 terminals using an ohmmeter.

Testing parameters :
Cold 1,630 – 2,740 Ω
Hot 2,065 – 3,225 Ω

If your 2JZ crank position sensor falls outside these readings, you need a replacement sensor.
