2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-In SUV: The Mitsubishi Outlander Wearing a Nissan Costume

Nissan is continuing its “rapid-fire reveal” era, following the refreshed Pathfinder with something more electrified — the 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-In Hybrid. Or, as industry experts lovingly call it: the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with a Nissan logo glued on.

Yes, really. We’ve touched on Nissan’s trouble on our Youtube Channel – ProStreetTV, but the new 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-In SUV definitely shows that they could be in way more trouble than we originally thought.

A Familiar Shape… Because It Is One

If you think the new Rogue Plug-In looks suspiciously like Mitsubishi’s seven-seat crossover, congratulations — your eyes work. Nissan swapped the grille, tweaked the trim between the taillights, and slapped on some fresh badges. Boom. “New” model.

To further differentiate itself, Nissan color-matched some exterior trim that Mitsubishi leaves black or chrome. Huge innovation, we know.

Inside? Even less disguise. The dashboard, the four-spoke steering wheel, the infotainment — if you’ve seen inside an Outlander PHEV, you’ve seen inside this Rogue.

Third-Row Bonus (Bring Small Friends)

Shared bones with the Outlander mean the Rogue Plug-In gets something the regular Rogue doesn’t: a third row. Sure, the people banished back there may file HR complaints about legroom, but hey — seven seats!

Cargo space does take a hit though:

Tech and Comfort: Loaded Enough

Base SL trim gives you:

Move up to Platinum and you’ll score:

Safety is modern-standard: blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, ProPilot Assist, surround-view cameras — the usual “don’t crash” helpers.

Same Powertrain, Same Numbers

If the drivetrain feels familiar, that’s because Mitsubishi provided that too. Under the hood:

2.4L NA 4-cyl + dual electric motors
Total output: 248 hp / 332 lb-ft

Performance stack-up:

All-electric range: 38 miles
Efficiency:

So… competitive, but not segment-dominating.

On Sale Soon, Price TBD

The 2026 Rogue Plug-In will make its public debut at the LA Auto Show and hit dealerships early next year. No price yet, but with the Outlander PHEV starting just over $40,000, expect Nissan to hover around the same number.

Because it’s hard to charge more when the other guy built the whole car.

Bottom Line

If you love the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV but prefer the Nissan badge lifestyle — congratulations, your oddly specific wish has been granted. The 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-In SUV may not hide its origins well, but it brings solid electrified capability and more seating flexibility to Nissan shoppers.

Just don’t stare too long… you might accidentally call it a Mitsubishi.
