The automotive world is abuzz with Supra news, and Toyota just added to the fire with the announcement of a Supra. Released only in Japan, the has not been confirmed to arrive stateside as of yet. It would make sense, following the trend of offering auto buyers an additional option when it comes to their new car.
Replacing the inline six turbocharged inline six, the new Supra will be offered in several trims. According to some experts, Toyota could also toy with the idea of a concept car version of the Supra.

Following suit, BMW will also offer a Z4 version that will share the same platform as the JDM Supra. Toyota announced that the 2.0 liter powerplant will be powered by a twin-scroll turbocharger with several states of tune from the factory.
The two versions of the four cylinder Supra will have different power levels to suit. The base model will come with 194 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. In the new Toyota Supra, this combination is reportedly good enough for a 6.5 second jaunt from 0-62 mph.
The second trim will produce upwards of 250 horsepower and almost 300 lbs of torque. This version is the Toyota version of the BMW Z4 sDrive30i, and the Japanese automaker claims that this Supra will reach 62 mph in 5.2 seconds.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Supra will make it’s to the US . Could the influx of drift Supras inspire a version? That’s a definite and one that I certainly wouldn’t count out.
