Kicking off the third annual collection of the world’s fastest R35’s, the 2019 GT-R World Cup certainly didn’t disappoint. Bringing the pilots of these R35 rockets together, the World Cup for GT-R’s came together at
Bradenton Motorsports Park.
What ensued was nothing short of breathtaking, as the Japanese put on quite the show. With over 60 competitors over a two-day period, many of whom shattered or beat their previous highs, it’s safe to say that the 2019 GT-R World Cup was a huge success.

When you talk about the fastest GT-R’s in the world, no name comes to mind like Alpha Racing. In their 3000 horsepower GT-R just set several world land records. But what about some of the others participating in this massive drag race face off?
One of the biggest names on the rise at the 2019 GT-R World Cup is
Gidi Chamdi, who has now partnered Extreme Turbo Systems. ETS turned the performance wick up on Chamdi’s GT-R, allowing him to take home the honors as 2019 GT-R World Cup champion. This marks his third win in a row, and the GT-R gauntlet has been thrown down for next year’s competition.
Given the fact that the Nissan GT-R is so responsive to minimal modifications, it’s easy to see just how much potential there is to these machines. A common misconception is that an automatic GT-R is easy to pilot down the track. The VR38 platform has been a remarkable one, and it’s raised the bar for newer contenders like the 2020 Toyota Supra.

These classes help keep cars and groups manageable and levels the playing field. Street Class is the most popular, with builds that range from stock to mild. The 1/8 mile speed trap limit is 115.9 so break out of that speed and you are relegated into a different class.
The 2019 GT-R World Cup Modified Class brings in upgraded turbos and aftermarket manifolds into the fold. There are limitations but the most important one to remember is the speed trap of 140.99. After the Modified class, things escalate quickly with the Pro Street class and the Outlaw group leading the pack.
For truly unreal builds, the Unlimited Class is your final stop. Essentially anything goes in this group so long as it’s the GT-R chassis and you are using the VR38 and GR6 transmission combination.
