Whether you are installing a new Celica radio, MP3 player, stereo head unit or navigation system this guide can help. Although the last Celica was built in 2006, it’s still a very popular choice among car stereo enthusiasts. Still heavily modified and easy to upgrade, the Celica stereo wiring diagram located on this page makes any radio install easy.
Third Gen Celica Stereo Wiring 1981–1985
Known as the A60 and one of the first variations to depart from the Supra name, the early Celica is great for a single DIN stereo upgrade. The front Celica speakers are smaller than most in this early generation and mounted into the dashboard.

If you are installing an aftermarket car stereo and want to wire in a car audio dimmer, this cannot be done with the factory wiring.

The rear speakers are accessed through the rear trunk and can be upgraded by unscrewing the rear Celica deck.

Fourth Gen Celica Stereo Wiring 1985–1989
The changes to the Celica made improvements to the center console. The changes to the dashboard make upgrading your Celica stereo slightly more difficult. This car stereo wiring diagram below covers the Toyota Celica from 1985 to 1989.

Much like the previous generation of the Celica, the front speakers are mounted into the dashboard. The rear speakers are mounted into the rear deck and can be accessed through the Celica back seats or the trunk.

This generation of Celica was also called the T160, and there were some huge changes to the next Celica from 1989 onward.

Fifth Gen Celica Stereo Wiring 1989–1993
The dash in this year range of Celica underwent quite a few changes. Gone are the boxier single DIN factory stereos, to be replaced with the first of Celica stereo that’s mounted into the center console. You will need to remove the inner panels on both the driver and passenger side to access the factory Celica radio.

Radio Power Antenna Trigger Wire: Black/Red
Because this Celica radio doesn’t have a trigger wire for the amplifier, you are best served by wiring it into the ignition switch.
The front Celica speakers are still in the dash, which can be troublesome. These speakers measure 4 ” in size but you can connect the front Celica speakers by using our car audio wiring guide below.

The sizing for this Celica stereo opening can fit a double DIN stereo or single DIN with a pocket. Most Celica stereo install will require a radio mounting bracket or kit.

Otherwise known as the T180 Celica the rear Toyota speakers left the rear deck and are mounted into the rear panels. This makes install slightly more difficult as you will need to remove the back seats and paneling to access the Celica speakers.
Sixth Gen Celica Stereo Wiring 1993–1999
The familiar front fascia of the sixth Celica are undeniably Toyota, and the interior also received a highly stylized make over.
The factory Celica radio comes in a double DIN size from the jump making upgrades simple.

This generation of Toyota used 6 ” Celica speakers mounted into the rear panels.

The changes to the dashboard wrapped the console around the driver. This Celica stereo install requires that you remove all the center console paneling to access the radio.
Once you have the double DIN stereo removed, you may need a radio install kit. This depends on whether or not you are installing a single DIN or a stereo with a popup face.
If that’s the case you’ll need a stereo install kit to make sure that the face works or you can fit the single DIN stereo over a DIN sized pocket.
Seventh Gen Celica Stereo Wiring 1999–2006
The last Celica stereo is in the Toyota center console and much like the last generation will require you to remove the entire console.

None of the Celica factory stereo units came with a dimmer wire or dial, so if that’s a big deal for you an inline dial can be wired in.

The incline of the Celica stereo and double DIN factory stereo makes a motorized face a nice choice.
Most aftermarket Celica stereo systems won’t run into the custom pocket or the popup lid. But if your Celica stereo has a flip up monitor or uses a touchscreen navigation system, you need brackets that will clear the flip up pocket lid.
