Chevy Camaro Stereo Wiring Diagram

When you want to upgrade your Chevy stereo, it’s going to take some wiring unless you just want to take it to a professional stereo installer. If you want to wire up your aftermarket stereo yourself, our Camaro stereo wiring diagram can help you save time and money. Regardless of whether or not you are a professional car audio installer or simply a DIY weekend warrior, this Camaro stereo wiring schematic all the wiring information you need.

We will be covering all the years of Chevy Camaro from the third generation onward. Whether it’s speaker wires, subwoofer wires or the wiring for your stereo power, we’ve got the comprehensive guide to installing a stereo into your Camaro here.

Third generation Camaro stereo wiring – 1982–1992

One of the first double DIN setups found in the Camaro, the third generation Chevy is very easy to install aftermarket stereos into.

Wiring is simplier and the speaker wires are easily identified.

Most stereo installs will not need a mounting kit to fit into the center console of the old school Camaro.

The front fascia of your stereo panel must be removed to get to the bolts that hold in the stereo panel.

Once you’ve removed this you can access the speaker wires.

Installing a single DIN stereo into this generation of Camaro is easy to do.

The front Camaro speakers are 4″ x 6″ and are mounted into the dashboard.

Rear mounted Camaro speakers measure 6″ x 9″ and are mounted into the rear side panels. If you are installing a pop up single DIN stereo or one with a slide out screen, you would be best served with a install kit.

Fourth generation Camaro stereo wiring – 1993–2002

The F body Chevy Camaro enjoyed a long run but had several changes through this year range. The first interior style matched the 1993-1997 Camaro that featured the LT1 engine.

This year range used a single DIN setup before the LS1 version of the F-Body cam equipped with the Bose speaker system.

The speakers up front measure 6 1/2 inches and are mounted into the doors, and the rear speakers are the same size and mounted into the quarter panel rear sections.

Luckily there’s not much you need to install into this generation of Camaro. However if you are planning on installing an aftermarket stereo with a motorized face, you may need a spacer install kit to properly mount it. The climate controls are directly above the stereo area, so without this install kit you might be asking for trouble.

The second half of the F-Body generation featured the LS1 engine and the redesigned interior. The factory Camaro stereo is the same one found in the Corvette, and is using the Bose double DIN setup.

You can ditch the factory Bose Monsoon stereo system and install a single DIN, but will need an install kit.

Fifth generation Camaro stereo wiring – 2010-2015

Sadly the Camaro was discontinued after the 2002 year until it’s triumphant return in 2010. Because of the redesign and the incorporation of navigation from the factory, installing a stereo into this year range of Camaro can be best when you go with a wiring harness.

Most of these harnesses plug right into the back of your dashboard to provide power to your aftermarket stereo.

The Camaro speaker wires will vary depending on what came with your Chevy from the factory. If you are using the typical center stereo mount as shown to the left, you’ll need to tap these wires.

When installing an aftermarket stereo into this year range of Chevy Camaro, you WILL need an install kit. This will involve you removing the complete center console section, and installing the replacement stereo mounting brackets and the replacement dashboard fascia.
