New Acura NSX Sells for 1.2 Million

The all new Acura NSX is set to make it’s debut in dealerships in early spring, with a price tag of $156,000 for the base model. According to Acura the top of the line model will top the 200k mark, but there’s one NSX supercar that’s breaking this price point.

Carrying the vehicle identification number of 001, the new Acura NSX sold for a cool $1.2 million at the Barrett-Jackson auction this past Saturday.

The owner of the very first new NSX happens to be Rick Hendrick owner of Hendrick Motorsports. Taking home the next-gen Acura supercar at the famous Scottsdale auction, the million plus will go towards a good cause. The proceeds of the auction are set to go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Camp Southern Ground.

The new Acura supercar has been in the news recently, set to make an appearance in the Super Bowl in a new commercial. The excitement around the new hybrid Acura NSX has been building for months now, especially at the 2015 SEMA Show. Setting a new record auction price at the world famous auction, the new Acura NSX is leading the return of Honda performance.

It’s not every day that someone can enjoy driving the first built supercar, and helping at risk children at the same time. Thanks to the generosity of Rick Hendrick, the children at the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Camp Southern Ground will reap the rewards. The charity has been a passion project for Grammy® Award-winning music artist Zac Brown in Georgia.

The new Acura goes on sale on Feb. 25 at authorized NSX dealers and you’ll be able to access the online vehicle configurator on Acura.com as well. Want more news on the all new Acura NSX? Subscribe now to My Pro Street and get all the latest in automotive news and tech tips.
