Acura teases new NSX Super Bowl Commercial

Acura is returning to the big stage for America’s biggest sports event, Super Bowl 50. Headlining their commercials this year is this all new 2017 Acura NSX Super Bowl commercial. Signaling Acura’s return since their last advertisements that ran during the 2012 championship game, the new NSX has been both loved and hated by critics.

There had been plenty of rumors and talk about the new supercar until Acura made the 2017 NSX official. Based on the concept NSX-GT, the production version of Acura’s new supercar is scheduled for release in 2017.

The new NSX Super bowl ad will run during the first quarter of Super Bowl 50. Between the hard hitting action of the showdown between the Panthers and the Broncos, Acura is making their move back into the consciousness of North American luxury car buyers.

The audio and much of the character behind the NSX Super Bowl commercial is provided by David Lee Roth. The rocker lends his classic screaming signature voice in the introduction of the new commercial. It’s been reported that Acura has spent upwards of $4 million dollars for the advertisement set to run during Super Bowl 50.

Playing as the successor to Acura’s NSX Super Bowl pitchmen from 2012 in Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, the iconic rock star heralds the arrival of the new NSX.

It marks the movement Acura has made to re-emerge as a premier luxury brand in North America, following their strong showing at the 2015 SEMA show. Recently the new Acura NSX has been reviewed, and we highlight the new Japanese supercar here in our recent post.

NSX Super Bowl ad not withstanding it remains to be seen how successful the bid from Acura will be. Honda has several performance centered changes coming for the upcoming year, including the new Type R Civic.
