For First Generation Honda Odyssey – 1994-1999


From 1994-1999 the Honda Odyssey has a simple red square in the middle of your instrument cluster to display maintenance reminders. When this square turns red, it’s time for you to take your vehicle in or perform the regularly scheduled maintenance that Honda calls for.When you have completed this work, it’s time to reset your first generation Honda Odyssey maintenance required light.

This is done by simply removing your ignition key, and inserting it into the slot directly beside your red maintenance reminder. The slot and instrument panel is shown below, make sure to fully insert your key and depress until the red box is cleared.

For Second Generation Honda Odyssey – 1999-2004


The 2nd generation of Odyssey saw the first of what would become Honda’s automatic transmission problems. Anyone who owns this year range of 3.0, 3.2 or 3.5 liter J series engines, will suffer from some sort of transmission problem, if equipped with an automatic. For the year ranges between 1999-2004, your Honda Odyssey will have a MAINT REQD amber light, which can light up next to your OBDII DTC Check Engine Light or MIL.

To reset this Honda Odyssey maintenance light, you must simply locate your ODO / TRIP button which is shown below.

Depress this button and hold it down, while inserting your key and turning to the ON position. Keep this button depressed until your MAINT REQD light begins to flash and disappear. Let go of the ODOMETER button to finish resetting your maintenance required light.

For Third Generation Honda Odyssey – 2005-2010


The third generation of Odyssey saw a host of changes that were aimed at improving reliability. Starting from 2005, the Odyssey came equipped with Honda’s HUD, which gave you engine vitals and information through your instrument panel.
