To learn how to Reset Your BMW 3 Series Service Light correctly and this method does not clear your service light correctly, you can try this alternate method. This alternate method is perfect for resetting the brake pad warning lights in your BMW 3 series.

To begin this alternate method, get into the car and insert your ignition key much as you did in the previous example and instructions. Do not depress the gas or brake pedal and wait for your SERVICE indicator to disappear.

  1. Depress and hold the odometer reset button until the warning triangle appears on your instrument cluster. Keep the odometer button depressed until the oil can appears on your screen.
  2. You should now be in the programmable BMW 3 series service menu, used by the dealer to clear these annoying lights and reminders. Use your BMW toggle switch on your combination switch to scroll through the options in your service menu. This is known as your condition based service items, which can all be selectable through the toggle switch.
  3. Now push the BC button on the end of your BMW combination switch and this should trigger the RESET on your dash. With that RESET indicator on and lit, push and depress the BC button for another 3 seconds to finish resetting your SERVICE reminder. You may see a OK or a DUE message on your dashboard.
