SEMA 2014 : GTR leads Nissan Back to SEMA

Nissan did the right thing and returned to the big stage at this year’s 2014 SEMA car show in Las Vegas. The legacy of performance that Nissan and it’s racing branch NISMO represented had long been absent from the performance aftermarket show for many years.

So when Nissan announced they would be correcting this egregious oversight this year, NISMO fans around the world rejoiced. The GT-R sets the bar high for Japanese supercars, and SEMA is truly the show made for Nissan and NISMO.

Making their triumphant return with a NISMO Lounge that highlighted the very best in NISMO Performance with the 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO Edition putting out over 600 horsepower. Not to be forgotten the 370Z NISMO was also featured in the booth fresh from it’s performance at the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSCC) race in Austin, Texas.

You couldn’t turn anywhere without finding a GT-R in various levels of modification. Some of our personal favorites have been listed below for your review as our first part series of the SEMA 2014 Auto Show.

Liberty Walk GT-R

This burly machine looked menacing and somewhat out of place being outside the building, because the level of detail on this vehicle is insane. Much like their Ferrari, Liberty Walk turned up the performance in the low and wide Japanese supercar. Featuring two GT-R’s in the show in the Airrex as well as the Air Lift booth, our favorite was easy to pick out

NISMO GTR

Although it wasn’t quite as radical as the carbon fiber clad model shown at the 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon (shown), the NISMO GT-R in the Nissan Lounge at SEMA 2014 was more than just a GT-R. NISMO returns at a time where Japanese tuning is undergoing quite a revolution, a good sign for enthusiasts worldwide.

HKS GT-R

Rumors had been flying about the HKS / Achilles GT-R built for Daigo Saito for the 2015 Formula Drift season. We love the classic HKS purple and another sign that HKS is slowly but most surely returning back to the States where they belong.

This monster will be rocking over 1000hp and running a built VR38DETT, with a mind numbing tire combination of 295/35R/21 in back. That’s some serious rubber and the first drift car that will be rocking a rim size over 20 inch.

Greddy GT-R

Built by Greddy and Garrett for the SEMA 2014 Auto Show, this red demon looked every single bit the part and had the power to back it up.

Built to the teeth and stroked to 4.3 liters this Nissan VR powerplant had every single part reworked to produce well over 1000 horsepower. Featuring a host of go fast Greddy products, the GT-R turned heads with the massive wing and exacting build specifications.

This machine reminded us a lot of the Greddy GTR 35RX that has been featured in quite a few publications and lauded for it’s insane power potential.
