FAQ : Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 ECU PINOUT

The Mitsubishi 3000GT was the Japanese automaker’s crown jewel of performance during the 90s, heading up their stable as the flagship sports car. Although it didn’t do well in the battle of 90s Japanese supercars that included the Mazda RX-7, Nissan 300ZX and Toyota Supra, the all-wheel drive 3000GT is still a very rare and very cool car.

There was a time when Mitsubishi had a lead on it’s overseas brethren, striking the alliance known as Diamond Star Motors (DSM) group with Chrysler Motors. Together the triplet of sports coupes sharing the same platform as the 4G63 Eclipse were born, leading to the eventual import of the Mitsubishi Evolution.

Loaded to the brim with technological advances and gizmos and gadgets, the 3000GT may have truly been the very definition of ‘bleeding edge’ vs ‘cutting edge’ as all these advances just added more complexity and weight to the already heavy car.

This current version of the 3000GT was scuttled and discontinued in 1999, however with news that Mitsubishi is retiring the Evolution nameplate, rumors have been flying about the revival of the 3000GT.

From 1991 to late 1999 the 3000GT was powered by Mitsubishi’s turbocharged 6G72 motor, a V6 twin turbo powerplant that could propel the 3000GT into the low 11’s with just a few mods.

We’ll start with the 1991-1993 VR4 6G72 OBDI ECU Pinout, shown below and follow with the OBDII version which ranged from the 1994-1999 years. This 3000GT VR4 ECU PINOUT is accurate as of 10.6.15.
