2014 Tokyo Auto Salon : Honda Debuts Fit Concepts

The automotive industry is abuzz with updates streaming in from the Tokyo Auto Salon, regardless of what style or vehicle type you prefer. Honda’s recent revisions to their lineup in other countries, namely India has led them to the Vezel and what might be the most interesting Honda Fit / Jazz Concept yet.

With 2 of the Fit Concepts at the 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon, Honda also brought their Odyssey and Vezel crossovers. The Vezel which we brought you coverage last year, seems to be targeting the Nissan Juke and Subaru CrossTrek compact crossover market.

In their press release, Honda stated that the sporty crossover concept “pursues a sense of high quality and sportiness” and from the looks of it the Vezel Modulo concept has these traits in spades.

Some of the vehicles we’ll be paying close attention to include ;

The VEZEL Modulo*2 Concept, which further pursues a sense of high quality and sportiness of the new VEZEL, which went on sale in Japan on December 20, 2013 as a new vehicle that belongs to a new category of automobiles that fuses together multifaceted values at a high level.

MUGEN*3 VEZEL CONCEPT, a VEZEL-based concept model by MUGEN and a FIT Special Customize, MUGEN FIT RS, which includes a front fascia upgrade and several modifications.

The jury is out on the front fascia upgrades for the Fit, but as this is still a concept hopefully we are spared the jowled looking front bumper.

Also of note is the Super GT Series GT300 class-winning Honda CR-Z GT race car, as well as the Honda SF13 that won the 2013 driver’s championship in the Japanese Super Formula series, will also be on display.

The second round of the Asian Le Mans Series came to a close at Fuji Speedway with an impressive win in the SGT Class by Team Mugen and their #15 CR-Z driven by Hideki Mutoh and Yuhki Nakayama.

The SGT Class is always a fun one to follow as many of cars are very popular road cars, and the rest of the podium rounded out with GAINER and their #11 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 in second place, and in third place going to R&D Sport’s #61 Subaru BRZ GT300.

We’ll return with more coverage of the Tokyo Auto Salon, along with announcements from Greddy Japan.

Happy Driving!
