Fresh off their success at the SEMA Show, Ford is continuing to push the performance envelope with their newest release of the Ford Mustang. The 2015 Ford Mustang has easily been one of the most eagerly anticipated performance vehicles of the year.
And thanks to Autoblog we’ve got images of the newest Mustang, which figures to be one of the boldest reimaginations of the classic American muscle car. And while initial responses from critics and fans alike have been lukewarm to the redesign features, we don’t think it’s quite a fair assessment considering all we have so far are a few images.
Looking over the specifications provided by Ford, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the new Mustang looks lower, wider and much more athletic compared to the previous iteration in stock form. Numbers back up the initial impression with the Mustang’s rear track being stretched from 62.1 to 64.9 inches, and wider by 1.5 inches and lower by 1.5 inches as well.
But it’s not the exterior that has us excited for the new Mustang, it’s the announcement that Ford will be equipping the Mustang with three seperate motor choices. Joining the fray will be Ford’s 2.3 liter EcoBoost four cylinder, as well as the 3.7 liter base engine along with the much beloved 5.0L Coyote V8.
The 2.3L liter has been detailed as capable for power levels up to 300 hp and 300 ft lbs of torque as early as 2500-4000 rpm in factory form, and we’re very excited to see what else the new EcoBoost motor is capable of.
And while these numbers aren’t etched in stone, it’s fair to say that Ford has stepped up to the plate to take on all challengers in the smaller sport compact category such as the Hyundai Genesis, and Toyobaru FT86 twins.
What do you think of the new Mustang or the many different motor options? Do you think that Ford is on the right track?
