SEMA 2013 Coverage : Honda Supercharges the CR-Z

When the Honda CR-Z made it’s debut in 2010 backed by the 6th generation IMA hybrid technology and a stylish interior with aggressive bodylines, it was easy to see what Honda had envisioned for this car and why so many people liked it. What some consumers didn’t like however was the power output of the vehicle, which often belied it’s aggressive exterior cues.

At the 2013 SEMA Show Honda has finally solved this issue by announcing that Honda Performance Division ( HPD ) would be packaging a centrifugal supercharger to the CR-Z as a factory option, bumping up power output to 200 hp. This HPD package will include an air-to-air intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, an ECU calibrated to meet CART AT-PZEV regulations with 91-octane fuel, and an HPD sport exhaust.
