Rumor Mill – The New Type R Takes on Nurburgring

It’s been a few weeks since the new Honda Civic Type R had been spotted in various spy shots, leading some to speculate about Honda’s newest Type R which was rumored to be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged configuration.

Well our friends at GTChannel just got their hands on the specifications for this new Type R, and we’ve got a video to share as well.

Honda’s WTCC racecar driver Gabriele Tarquini puts the 2015 Honda Civic Type R model to the test at the Nurburgring, trying to push the limits of its 280bph, turbo-charged 2.0 litre engine.

Honda apparently feels that the new Civic Type R is ready to break the old record for front drive – front engine cars at the Nurburgring circuit, it will need to best the 8 minute 7.97 second record set by the Renault Megane Sports Trophy. While the Civic Type R will be sold in 2015 in Japan, chances are unfortunately that we here in the States are pretty much screwed… again.

Thanks to our friends at GTChannel for the specs on the upcoming 2015 Civic Type R
