Default Apexi Super AFC in 1997 Toyota Supra Turbo

The install of the AFC is straightforward procedure, and can be installed by any average mechanic.

Tools:
  • Wire Strippers or scissors
  • Pliers
  • 10 mm socket and handle
The AFC unit is accompanied with all the hardware necessary for the install.

  • 1 AFC Unit
  • 2 quick splice wire connects
  • 1 male bullet style connector
  • 1 female bullet style connector
  • 1 square piece of double sided tape
  • 2 tie straps
Before you begin the install it is a good idea to read through all the applicable information and directions that come with the AFC

The first step or the install is to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. This ensures that there is no possibility of accidentally shorting any electrical devices.

Next we find the location of the stock Computer. In this install it is under the passenger floor panel in the Supra

First remove the side paneling to expose the kickpanel on the passenger side.

once you have the kickpanel removed, then peel your carpet back to expose the ECU plate. Undo the 3 10mm nuts holding this down and pull the panel off to expose your ECU

Undo the 10mm holding the ECU harness in, remove the entire assembly.

Look over our ECU pinout for all necessary install related wires.

Lay out your SAFC wires so that you can see the wires laid out before you. Tee the Red AFC wire (12V+) in to ECU wire 31. Splice the Brown wire (ground 1) into ECU pin 69 which is ground, close to the ecu. Splice the Black wire (ground 2) into the same pin 69 at least 1cm away from the Brown wire.

Splice the Green Wire (RPM) into ECU pin 58. This is your ECU Ignition signal

Now locate Wire 66, which is Air Meter Signal, cut in half and leave yourself enough room on the ECU side to work with.

Connect the Yellow wire to the ECU Side of wire 66. Connect the White wire to the 66 wire heading AWAY from the ECU harness.

Now find wire 43, which is your Throttle wire.

Splice the Gray AFC wire which is throttle, into wire 43.

Wrap all your connections up in electrical tape and zip tie any and all wires securely out of the way as to not interfere with your cars operation. You are now done! Plug your ECU back in, secure with the 10mm bolt and you are ready to tune your MKIV!!
