Black Box?

whats this black box they keep talking about. where car companys are tracking what you do? and if you mess with it your air bags wont work? anyone know anything about this?

my friends hybrid has one, its crazy, its for insurance purposes they can see what you were doing before the crash, how fast you were going etc etc.

I don't know about it not making your air bags work, maybe, but it's like a control module for a few things, and records the last 5 seconds constantly. So if you crash, the black box records things like:

throttle position
engine rpm
brake pedal engagement
etc

Well, it can also help you as well. If they are not sure who caused an accident, your black box can save you from going to jail.

Beak has a good point... if you get into an accident, and it LOOKS like it's your fault, but the black box can show maybe you were slowing down, or hitting the brakes or something, it might save you. I saw on TV how a drunk driver killed a family and they said the black box showed that 5 seconds before impact he was actually full throttle.

in the state of alabama if its a rear end accident it doesn't matter what happened the person that rear ended the other person is at fault. and no little black box would have proven the other person at fault when i totaled my car. the whole reason for my wreck was because he didn't have breaklights. unless it has a video camera then i wouldn't have helped me out.
