Default 4g63t

So earlier in my introduction or somewhere i forget i was saying about a eclipse gsx i found for 1000 less then 2500 on the motor and less then 1500 on the tranny. well i went to looked at it i found out how he is is running 32lbs of boost on a small 16g he has the fins snipped. looked in the valve cover and the valves looked brand new just needs new oil in it. ok i can't talk anymore heres a pic of the motor. oh and it needs put back together so thats why it looks like its not good and i used my phone because i forgot my digital camera.

32lbs of boost on a 16g is nothing but hot air.

I would stay away man... you can get a 4G63 pretty cheap, and have it rebuilt for about the same price, and at least you would know 100% its fresh and has no miles.

I don't know if a 16g can even push 32psi. I think this guy is full of hot air, just like his turbo.

If you guys think it's a good idea, you'd know better since you saw the car, the motor and the receipts.

The only way a 16g is making 32psi is on a spike. It does not have the flow capabilities to run 32psi for any longer than a second. Just the fact that this guy was even trying to run 32psi on a 16g makes me wonder what other dumb things he has done with that motor. That's my only concern.

I was at Pro Street yesterday, and they have a bunch of 6 bolts layin in the back... why don't you call them up and buy one of them if they will sell them? You can get them to rebuild it for you, and I'm sure it would be less than $1000.

Just a suggestion... let us know what you do

Also... fins don't get destroyed from overboosting a turbo unless if it has bad seals, and the fins rub against the compressor housing. He either ran the turbo low on oil, or he was running a really bad turbo that at 32psi wiggled enough to break the fins.

If he ran it low on oil, the motor might have been running low on oil as well.

the only chassis i got layin around are 1.8s i would have alot of work just converting it over. my talon is probally one of the cleanest 1g body's around here. i know some that has a really nice one but he built the car and just resparyed it.

he personally clipped them and its just spiking out at 32 not running that forever.

Let us know if you pick it up... and as always, lets see those pics

And I agree, for the price of DSMs now, there is no point in trying to swap a 4G63 into a 1.8L DSM engine bay.

Looks like the shift linkage is still attached... did you try to see how it shifts?

It has the timing belt and stuff... put a radiator in there, and fire it up, see if it runs ok. Hook the MAF to the TB elbow.
