GINA, who needs a metal skin?

Concept car from BMW where the skin of the car is fabric. Makes room for a whole new outlet on the exterior of a car. Check out the video and just watch it

now i would love to see a car like that on the streets.. it is a very cool idea if it can catch on and should make the vehicle quite a bit litter which in turn would mean faster and better fuel economy

It was freaky when it starts too move, it's almost as if it's alive, especially the headlights :o .

My friends that's innovative. My question is durability and safety but you know BMW they will come up with a way to counter act that.

you can have a wicked car show skin, then zip...regualr skin, zip.....crappy rust bucket skin for those trips to detroit......even golfers could get plaid skins to match their golf pants

that would be a kick ass idea and they did cover the safety aspect too flex the skin is just a cover undernieth they still have a stong framing that would protect you in a crash. if you think about it when you wreck it isnt really the body of the car that is saving you it is the inner framing anyway like the bumper (not the cover) and we all no the hood doesnt do much more than cover the engine
