I couldnt find a how to for the install of a short shift adapter for vehicles with shift by wire application so here you go. I did this on a 96 accord so this will be exact step by step for the 94-96 accords and others may be similar.
First you need to remove the rear section of the consol. it is held in by 5 screws, one on each side of the consol by the seatbelt latches, one underneath the cup holder and I provided a pic for the last two inside the consol under a cover that you just pop out. ![]() The next step is to remove the black cover plate on top of the front consol area. this is done by removing the stereo and poping out the hazard switch and the other tab that may or may not be used on your car and unscrewing the shift knob. to unscrew the shift knob you must first release the boot by pinching with two fingers on the front and back to release the pin and pulling down, the you just unscrew the knob. there are 2 screws holding the plate in at the back down by the hand brake. ![]() after the plate has been removed you can begin to remove the front consol. to do this you must remove the cover underneath the steering column, this is easy as there are no screws in it just cover pry it off being careful to not break the clips holding it in and remove the 2 screws on that side. You must also drop the glove box to gain access to 2 screws hiding behind it. then there will be two more screws at the top behind were the stero goes. after you removed all the screws the consol can be removed but you will have to disconnect some wiring and pop out the obd2 port if you car has it to free up the consol. ![]() then you are ready to put on the short shift adapter. simply use a 10mm socket and remove the bolt holding the shift cable( will be the cable on the right connected to the shaft) from the shaft. take your adapter and slide it over the bolt and put the nut back on and tighten it down. then remove the bolt that cam with the adpater and put the shift cable onto the left side of the hole for the bolt and thread the bolt back on from the left side to the right. then use the little allen screw and thread it into the hole in the back until it is secure against the shaft. ![]() And there you go you know have a shorter throw for your shifting. just take the steps backwards to reinstall you consol, reset your stereo and clock and try out your new shift.
