I am not sure about a negative distributor coil but the distributor coil is the spark wire that goes from your ignition coil to the center of your distributor in other words the one cable that doesnt go to any of the spark plugs

not sure but just connect it how it says and if it works then it works. does you car not have a tac?. the coil transfers the electrical current created by the ignition and sends it into the distributor and as the rotor spins past the spark plurg wire connection on the cap the current jumps from the rotor into the spark plug wire and travel to each plug where it makes another jump to ignite the fuel

your car may be new enough that it might not have a distributor not exactly sure how to tell though over the net but go to your auto parts store and get a repair manual for your year and make it will tell you which you have also in the back it will have all the wiring diagrams you need
