whats wrong with your clutch right now? save your self the time and money and wait until you need the clutch. the reduction in rotational mass is nice, but the power gains are minimal.

Theres nothign wrong with lightened flywheels as long as they arent too light. This of course would really depend on the stock weight of your flywheel and what you are trying to get out of the vehicle.

In all honesty it's not worth the extra cash, I believe weight to power ratio is something like 1/10 of second for every 100 pounds. Just have yours machined if you are putting in a new clutch.

that doesn't apply to rotating weight, anytime you can lose rotating mass( flywheel, alum driveshafts, underdrive pulleys, lightweight rims ) your car will accelerate and stop much quicker

Ok but how much weight is he really going to reduce with just a flywheel. Lighter crank, pistons, rods and such then maybe it would be worth tha gain. But that is an all out project. But I do stand corrected.

your thinking in terms of total weight. it takes power to make power, it requires energy to spin the crank, pistons, rods, flywheel, trans gears, differential and/or drive shaft, axle, tires and then the weight of the car. each one of those pieces (broadly) has mass, and must rotate to spin the tires and move the car. the more weight/mass the part is, the more energy must be exerted from the source of power (engine) to spin it. when the weight is reduced, less energy is required to move it and therefore can be transferred to the ground. also like notch said, you accelerate and decelerate faster as rotational mass is reduced. when things are in motion they stay in motion unless there is a reaction, like friction and compression working against pistons that naturally slow an engine's revolutions down. when parts are lightened, they dont reduce friction or compression but they do reduce the weight working against the engines natural tendency to slow down, hence a faster deceleration. on the other hand, the lighter parts require less energy to be put into motion and therefore, faster acceleration. and im not typing anymore. my brain hurts. its like 5am and i just got off work, i gotta go to class guys. if all of this is gibberish, then im sorry

however, on a stock ride, there are much better places start tuning.
