depends on the car. some car companies offer inhouse CAI and some have a much more broad aftermarket. generally speaking though, the brands mentioned are some of the best in the CAI business, but under 200 dollars, you might want to look around for a used one.

200 bucks for 2 or 3 hp , waste of money, save another 300 and get a nitrous kit and add an additional 50 - 150 hp

you should run premium gas, and get a set of spark plugs that are 1 heat range colder then stock, you don't need to do this for the lower hp settings, only when you are spraying the larger shots, for example i normally run autolite 25s, for a 100 - 125 shot i would get some autolite 24s, i currently run a 175 shot so i run autolite 23s

man, if you can find a intake for under 200 for the civic. your gonna have a lot of truoble with that whole project. civics are like legos, you can find a part to change any part on the entire car.

well, there's a greddy turbo kit for it. i don't know for the corolla.(i should've done some after market check on it).

but that'll answer your intake question, plus a lot more hp.

and for your friend check the internet ,and make him check the specs on his car, like engine version....the name of engine and check for other cars with same engine in same placed form. may help.....guess i might have a look.

i went to the track with my buddies yesterday and the only cars that broke were imports, there were only 2 imports that got into the 12s very high 12s at that , 1 was a turbo civic race car ( gutted interior , motor swap, turbo on slicks ) trailered there and a supra, the other supra only ran 13s both supras were on slicks btw, of course there were plenty of fast fords, a buddy of mine drove his 5.0 there, bolted on his slicks and ran some low 11s and changes his tires and drove home, i lost count of all the 12 sec 5.0s there, a girl was driving a 13 sec mustang ( btw most all of the fords i'm talking about were legit street cars with full interiors and at least stock bottom ends ) there were a few 10 sec mustangs that were race cars and a rx7 race car with a small block carbed ford with a turbo that ran a mid 8 at 169 mph . it wasn't a ford but there was a new z 06 vette there that ran a couple of 10.90s on slicks and drove it there and back
