Question electric supercharger

Ok I have been online alot and looking at parts for my car and I came across an electric supercharger that you wire to the battery and connect behind a cone air filter off a ram or cai. Has anybody tried one out? Are they just a waste time or do they work also if it does work what is the average hp gain?

It uses 2.2 amps from your alternator when turned on and doesn't affect your car performance or battery drain.
umm..dont you want it to affect your performance in a good way?

250CFM of forced air can also be compared to a 15-25 shot of Nitrous.
doubt that

idk dude, to me, it sounds fishy...but others might have a better insight on it

that is why I posted on here it sounds like a good deal and an easy way to add some horses but I dont know how it works in the real world. I understand it works kinda like a fan sucking in air and in theory that might creat some pressure that can translate into but but I was hoping someone here who understands more about boost and forced induction might be able to break it down for me

i did a ton of research because it does sound like a good idea, but when you crunch the numbers it's worthless http://www.halfbakery.com/idea/Electric_20Supercharger

that is what I am affraid of. and as far as nos goes my car is a daily driver and i have my kids in it a lot wouldn't want them in it if i had an accident with a nos tank in the trunk plus I am not looking for super horse power just a mod tuned car that still gets good gas mileage and looks and performs better than stock. If I get a prdject car going that i dont have to drive everyday that i can fully take apart and build up turbo and nos would be on the list

nitrous will be ok in an accident, your gas tank would have a better chance of going before the tank. Nitrous is not flamable. Do not waste your time on that junk. Stop watching fast and furious. Get the nitrous instant horse power, ask Notch he would marry it if it would say yes

but I love fast and the furious lol. That is good to know however still don't think I want nos in a daily driver. Maybe a dry shot would be ok for it. So then Notch would have have any problems running a dry shot of nos in my engine for the most part the engine is stock I know my exedy clutch could handle the extra horses produced but would I have to modify my fuel rail, cams, gears, or anything else for dry nos?

all entry level nitrous kits are designed to work on stock engines, all you have to do is follow the instructions and you'll be super glad you got a nitrous kit, Just don't call it nossss , btw i've had nitrous on several of my daily driven mustangs, all with over 100,000 miles on em and they performed flawlessly ( even when i sprayed a couple with a 175 shot , which was not recommended )

and yes, get a dry shot, i highly recommend a zex dry kit , it's the safest and easiest to install , perfect for first time nitrous users ( and seasoned ones like myself )

I have been around the block on forums and this come up a lot (it has come up before on PSO and It wont be the last time). It is basically a low voltage blower motor you can go to a marine supply store and pick one up for 20 bucks. They are not a good design for this and there is a high probability of failure. If you are really for blowing up your engine with little plastic bits from a shattered housing or fan blade, get an electric leaf blower and go out in style.

Stop getting your automotive advice from F&F. Nitrous is an oxidizer it won’t explode. The reason we use it for car stuff is that it has an oxygen saturation of 33% where “air” can only reach 21% More Air=More Power

I admit I am a new to nitrous I do know that it does help with combustion so I figured it was flamable and I do know that if it were to come in contact with a fire it would be like adding pure oxygen to flames was aware of how safe they were in cars. but anyway thanx for the info Notch I think I might looki into installing a dry shot when I have 600 bucks to blow (prostreet price) So are they simple to install? Also who carries Nitrous to fill the tank if I were to get it installed? Is dry shot engine controlled or switch activated?

If I remember correctly you usually have a full throttle switch, once the switch is tripped (more of a safety device) you can activate it via in cabin button
