Default In need of boost

Im working on a B18 and was wondering if a higher compression motor would benifit from a turbo over a lower compression motor. And how reliable is a turbo? its my everyday car.

With boost you need to drop the compression ratio or you will blow it up...stock stuff in a n/a motor is usually only good for 6-8psi after you turbo it. Any more and you will be picking up parts of your engine from off the road.

Not only is it important to drop the ratio but increase strength forged con. rods and pistons are a must.

This is what can happen if you are not carefull

get a nitrous kit, they're perfect for daily drivers, the power ( and wear and tear ) is only there when you need it , same power as a turbo but waaaaaay less money

if you have a LS turbo will work great even at higher compression if you are running a gsr turbo is STILL very reliable and works great. dont cut corners on the tuning aspect of it, and you'll be fine. let me know if u got some questions

Thanks for the info, my chassie is a integra LS and i think that V-TEC is over rated and for the price of a Type R a turbo would put a bigger chip on your shoulder. So to my next question, im swapp'n out the 1.8 and was wondering if the JDM B20 non vtec would be a better power plant? but for a few more hund. i could have a jdm b16. the idea is a complete bolt on turbo kit. but still reliable. peace

so you're going to do a motor swap and then bolt on a turbo ?? that seems like an aweful lot of work to have a car that's still going to end up only being a 13 sec car ( if you can drive ) y don't you just buy a 13 sec car to begin with ??

because i can build a 13 sec. car for half the price of buying one. plus you cant buy a 13 sec. car with 2000 watts and LCD screens. i have a budget and in canada all you see are 13 sec. cars from the dealership. it has to be unique or nothing.

man you cant put mustang and unique in the same sentence. every 45 year old women buys a mustang to be unique. however, a honda crx isn't really a rare site either..... sell it all and go get a dodge SRT4 with the kicker sound system

Mustangs share the same suspension components as there pick ups. I want something that goes fast and handles like a dream, also there too heavy. i just cant stand the thought of driving a neon. you know 4 DR.
