I just bought a 92' Civic VX 1.5L for $200.00, it has 300,k mi. runs good, no a/c
All I have done to it is 2 new front tires for safety, would anything be advised to do with helping to get a little more horsepower out of this engine or just save up money for an engine swap, and how much would an engine swap be? I have a chance to get an exhaust and a new head for this motor, what should I do? |

hey man welcome to PSO
theres plenty of things you can do to it but i dont know if i would do it to an engine with 300k miles on it if your going for a swap, prices vary depending on the engine what type of engine you planning on doin?

i would defiantly say don't judge an engine by its mileage. i have seen Dakota's with 318's go for over 300k with out a tick in the engine. the only thing that ever went out was the water pump, twice. a lot depends on the condition of the engine and how it was treated by all the owners who put those miles on the car. i wouldn't suggest running the car too hard with all those miles, until you know its solid and not going to break down. its a 92' model and most likely less then inspirational.....i would save my money until you can get a down payment on something that you want, and then keep that car as your driver.
