Default 1996 Eclipse Passenger Door Handle

Hi,
I recently replaced the passenger side door handle on my '96 Eclipse. It has manual door locks. Anyhow, in the process of removal, I had to mangle the plastic cover that is on the end of the lower push rod that snaps into the ring of the keylock on the handle.

After I got the new handle installed, the push rod will not attach to the keylock ring because the plastic knob has been torn to where it will not snap into the ring.

Does anyone know how I can repair this? Do they make a replacement push rod?

The door opens beautifully now, but I cannot lock it now.

Thanks,
Joe

Joe, id recommend taking the door skin off, and installing the door handle that way much easier. let us know if you have any further problems.

I used some great instructions that I found on this site. The thread was "How to repair your 2g broken door handle, posted on 10-07-2006 by admin. However, the illustrated instructions were for the driver's side door.

I don't know if my question was unclear or what, but it didn't concern itself with the actual removal/installation - I was able to get the handle in and out just fine with the instructions above. The problem is I need help with how to get the lower push rod reattached to the keylock assembly.

right, removing the door skin makes things easier for rod installation, the rod isnt bent or otherwise damaged is it?
