I owned a 98 cav and the best thing I can tell you is once the small things start to die get rid of it! After that it will just nickel and dime you.

Thats because it was a Cavalier. If you fix things as soon as they go wrong you will be fine.

isnt it funny to watch movies from just a few years ago. I remember Urban Legend, the girl goes to the gas station and the price for gas was so low compared to today... makes it seem like forever ago

I watched Die Hard the other day and I think I saw gas for .79 a gallon in it.

I remember when I could fill the gas tank in my Saturn for $18.

The other day someone made a comment saying the way we buy gas is different. Ten years ago people would buy $20 on pump 5, put in gas and come back for change. Now, you have to say I want 15 gallons and the cashier will let you know how much it will be.

If you have a therostat stuck open, or a lower temp stat, the computer will stay in open loop , thinking the engine is not up to operating temp , this makes it run in choke mode and it will run rich.

true what he said..^^^^!! but what year is it. my son has had several, a 2004 and a 2005, the 04 was a stick and the 05 is a auto. we took a trip out to vegas in june. me in my 04 gto with boltons, and him in his stock 05 cavy. he averaged 30-34 and i took home 25-28 with 400 rwhp and tq. his car has nearly 65000 mi and mine has 73000 on it. all i am saying is that a cavy would just about have to be worn out with a couple hundred thousand mi on it to get that bad of mileage... i no a guy here in ardmore ok with a late 90's cavy that still gets up well into the twenty's, and sometimes better. if you car is getting that bad iof mileage then something is stopped up. a cat will blow up and parts of the insides will lodge inside the pipeing and muffler. i no some people who have had to replace the whole exhaust system for that. and there car was getting horrible gas mileage. hope this helps. and i am glad to be here on the forum....
