ok well i went to a local shop here that i found not too long ago
they are actually well known been in quite a few mags dunno if you have heard of them, but they are called Powerplay Performance they do a lot of custom stuff so i went in and asked him how much it would be to lower my car about an inch i told him my main issue was rubbing and he said that he had an accord and dropped it an inch, and it was fine it was on 17"s...but he said it might have been a slightly smaller lower profile tire than mine but he said that springs would be around 250 and installation would be about 300... my main concern was the company they used and he said something like ibox or eyebox or something like that is that a good brand?!

I've never heard of them.. but that doesn't mean much... to be quite honest I know just enough about this field to have the right idea.. after that.. i need to do lots of research. But considering i have no money.. i don't do much of that.. I am starting to collect magazines though.. after a month whats in the store gets thrown away unless we want them

$250 for Civic-speciic Eibachs sounds a litle on the expenive side. and so does 300 for install. OPAK Racing out here is quoting me 150 for spring install. for 300 they better throw in alignment.

i didnt think the 250 was too bad
but i thought the 300 was kind of high and he said that if i just do an inch, i dont need to change the struts/shocks...

eibach is the only one that comes to mind and they are one of the best in the suspension business. not a fly-by-night car company at all; they have contracts with several major car companies to do struts/springs for production vehicles. my concern is paying $$300 to install a set of springs. look, you can rent tools from your local parts stores and eibach will supply instructions for the spring removal and instillation, not to mention the hundreds of how-to threads on the internet. if your really interested in modifying a car don't give a shop the glory for work you could have done. if your unsure of your skills talk to some people, get some beer and make it a Saturday afternoon with some mechanically inclined friends. either way you will feel a difference in the car but only one way comes with a free sense of accomplishment and the know-how to help the next guy. -dssrt4

so im pretty sure i could get anything i need lol i just asked him how much to drop it an inch and he told me the price of the springs and installation so i just thought i would include it to get your guys's opinions my dad knows how to do it and if he ever doesnt know how, im sure one of my neighbors will plus i dont like other people working on my car (like shops)...it just bugs me letting other people have my car and stuff so im sure i could get it done i was just wondering mainly what you guys thought of the price on the springs what do you think the set should run me? and would i need to change the struts/shocks...or is it just smart to? PS. im only 17...even though my dad drinks all the time..and has a fridge full of it...the beer isnt an option...yet ![]()

get aftermarket struts as well. its not completely necessary but would be ideal as the different springs will increase the stress on your stockers by a lot and wear them out fairly quickly. one tip, google your springs and struts to find the best price everyone will have a different price on the same part.

couldn't have said it better myself. there are several(actually thousands for civics) of companies that all contribute to making a competitive market for whatever modifications you want. eibach is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for, they use the best materials to create the lightest and strongest product available. there are other companies out there who by the nature of the driver/race could be considered better or worse; Tien, Progressive, Koni, Bilstein, H&R, Hotchkis all come to mind as quality suspension companies. eibach is used the Mopar stage III coilovers i have and is the stock suspension in my vw, so i can tell you they make good products, my neon rides on rails(term used to describe a suspension thats very stiff and very direct. like a go-kart, or a roller coaster) and the vdub feels like im riding on pillows. just research your car, type what ever question you want into google and instantly you'll be whisked into the the wonderful world of the "in-the-know" crowed. you also need to figure out what kind of ride you want; (lowered but soft enough to not make my cd player skip when i run over a cigarette butt) or (slammed, scraping bumpers into parking lots, setting off airbags when i run into Popsicles sticks) if you want a "show" car keep it sport and kinda soft if you would rather just rip speakers out then put in new ones get some nice hard springs. keep in mind that the more radical of a change you make the more supporting hardware you might need i.e. struts, bushings, clearance of fender walls and anything else you might run into problems with.

anywhere from 900 to 1300$$ im guessing of course but that all depends on what you mean by the "whole setup". just take a look at what it is you want and let us know the parts, we can work from there.
