Been really busy this past month, had three track events! May 3rd & 4th @ PIR, May 24th night event @ Firebird main (Part of the Modified Mag Tuner Shootout), And May 31st for the Dezod Desert Showdown Time Attack (where I got 1st place AWD Wild, and 'Best wipeout' ). Here's some pictures from the events.
PIR may 3rd

Firebird May 24th

The 'Best Wipeout' was won by having a fuel surging issue around the last corner (#11).
I had a small fuel leak near the gas tank after my second practice session, so with an hour before the Time Attack started, I call my Friend Keith over at azdynochip to see if I could get it on a lift to get a better view of what was going on. I was fortunate that it was a simple fuel line, So I ran over to Checkers and got a length of hose, Got back to the shop, fixed it, and back to the track in time to catch the time attack drivers meeting, but in the process burned up quite a bit of fuel I hadn't planned on, and didn't have time to top off the tank before the race.
Had a great run, until I had an issue with fuel sloshing away from the fuel pump during the last few turns. Coming out of the last turn, the engine sputtered on me mid-powerslide past the apex, so I had no choice but to hit the dirt. I slid sideways about 150 feet and took out a lap timer tripod and filled the car with 50 lbs of dirt and dust, but after a few turns of the key to prime the fuel lines again, I started it right back up and did one more lap. No damage to the car, and Nothing broken other than a tripod leg!

Since I was on of the last people running, Everyone was waiting for the results near the start/finish area, and subsequently they were all covered in dirt and dust, It looked like Ground Zero!
But it was a good time, great end to my spring track season.
Still a have a LOT of cleaning to do!

I'm thinking of getting a CF roof made over the summer, and possibly going full CF widebody & doing a 5X114 hub conversion, so I can get some wider wheels & stickier tires. I need some more grip, I was just about to destroy those street tires out there. My brakes just chew up the street tires.
The Night Event was one of the best events I've been to locally, that's for sure! It was fun running the track during different times of day, made the track different everytime. Definitely glad I installed HID's. My first time on the track was 3:30pm, and the last was after 10PM.

The Time Attack was really fun too, but racing back-to-back weekends was really hard on the tires.

Found some pictures from the time attack this past Saturday.

I'm still waiting for the video, but I found some pictures from the event, including my award-winning, powersliding off track endeavor.

/\ Tage's record setting FF civic

/\ Me waiting to got out on my timed laps

The award-winning money shot

/\ Me off track five feet past the start/finish line, The lap timer is under the car. [thumbup]

and what that earned me.

Looking forward to getting back on the Track after Labor day.

HEY!

About your Nukabe tow hooks..
Is it possible to reverse the tow hooks? Like.. put the front at the rear & the rear at the front? Would that still make it legal for Time Attacks?

I'm sure you could. But the rear on the front would be awfully close to the ground, I would be afraid of catching it on something.

That's because I always go head first off the track!
No, but seriously, I've been debating on a good place to install it, I don't want to hack too many holes in my kinda pricey front bumper cover, especially if it's gonna look like ass and not work properly, I've been working out a few possible locations for the front one, I should have it figured out by the end of the year, I'm not really pushing it 10/10ths at the track yet, so I'm not too afraid of going off enough to where I need a tow. I want it to be functional and not damage anything if I do end up having to use it.

Thanks! I'm still cleaning it out from the last track day, it's already over 100* here daily so it's difficult to get motivated to work on it right now, but I have some big plans in the works. Should have a CF roof made for it by the end of the summer. (save another 15 lbs or so off the top of the car)
I'm really itching to get some stickier tires on it, But I'm in the process of getting my safety gear up to par, I'm getting faster at the track, and I want to be comfortable to push it beyond my self-imposed 130 MPH speed limit at the track. I find that at those speeds, hard, threshold, and trail braking tend to turn street tires into gummy wads of rubber relatively quickly, which is no good for cornering speeds, and definitely doesn't inspire much confidence. (I don't run ABS, the RS ABS is waaaay to sensitive to provide decent feedback) I like to keep my car and tires in one piece, seeing as it's my ride home after racing.
It's a great setup though, it doesn't have any of the usually impreza handling issues with understeer, it's actually a little tail happy when pushed hard in the corners, but it's very consistent and predictable, just have to make sure to keep the fuel tank full during hard, hot laps, or it will get some fuel surging issues. I don't want to make a new fuel setup right now, since it will add quite a bit of weight, I would also have to make a fire wall between the trunk area and the cabin, which kinda kills the street car cred. I still like to be able to do the occasional gas station beer run in it and load up the trunk with water and beer.

I may try and get some CF panels made for the door cards and rear deck and seal off the truck, Just have to see if it's worth the weight savings and cost vs other materials. I'm also mulling over doing a flat bottom on it, with some naca ducts to cool the exhaust and differentials, Also have to figure if that would be worth the extra weight, maybe after I jack the power up a little more.
But as it sits it's a great car, it's fun to just cruise around town, but even better on the track. It was well worth all the hard work. I'd like to keep tracking it for at least the next 10 years, so I have plenty of time to sort everything out. I'd rather do it right the first time.

Couldn't wait until it cools off to get back out to the track, So I signed up for the next local NASA track day, at Firebird West. It's a fun track, should be a good time. going to test out a few more EFDC setting combos, this time I have a way of telling if I'm actually seeing an improvement, Hopefully it works.
Going to focus on Safety this year, getting a list together of more Safety items so I feel comfortable going fast on the track.
Picked up this helmet;

With an Iridium-tinted lens, should be much more comfortable than my dirtbike helmet!
Here's a few new quick pictures,
